Trashless Tuesdays
As the grade 5 Eco Team continues to promote sustainability and environmental awareness at ILPS, we are asking families to send in "Trashless" lunches to school every Tuesday, starting next week!
Waste-free lunches not only help reduce the amount of waste we generate, but they also teach our students valuable lessons about responsible consumption. By minimizing single-use plastics and packaging, we can significantly reduce the environmental impact made by our school.
Here are a few simple tips for preparing waste-free lunches:
Use reusable containers: Instead of disposable plastic bags or wrap, try using reusable containers for sandwiches, snacks, and fruits.
Opt for reusable utensils and water bottles: Send your child with a refillable water bottle and reusable utensils to minimize waste.
Avoid pre-packaged snacks: Choose snacks that come in bulk or can be easily portioned into reusable containers.
Consider reusable, cloth or silicon snack bags: These are a great alternative to single-use plastic bags.
The Eco Team will be out spreading awareness this week and next and hope to see less waste in classroom bins on Tuesdays for the remainder of the year.
Thanks for your support!
