We are currently seeking public input on Policy 518 - Students with Life-Threatening Medical Conditions.

This policy conveys the board’s commitment to supporting students with prevalent medical conditions, such as asthma, anaphylaxis, diabetes and epilepsy, to ensure they have full access to school in a safe, inclusive, and healthy environment. This includes fostering well-being and empowering students to manage their medical needs to the best of their ability.

Hello Paisley Road Families,

Our first school fundraiser is here!

Fresh from the Farm is a unique fundraising partnership between the Ontario Fruit and Vegetable Growers Association and our school community. By purchasing fresh apple and vegetable bundles, you can enjoy healthy, local produce for your family while also supporting Ontario farmers. Once orders are placed the school will keep you updated on dates and times for your pick up - this will happen between Nov. 3rd - Dec. 4th.

Paisley Road is excited to offer this opportunity for our families as part of our school fundraising efforts. Orders can be placed Monday September 29th until Tuesday October 14th 2025.

Place orders through this website: https://freshfromfarm.ca/pages/seller-profile?paisley-road-public-school-guelph

Thank you.

Dear Parents, Guardians, Caregivers and/or Families:

UGDSB recognizes and acknowledges Truth and Reconciliation Week each year during the final week in September. Staff are provided with carefully selected content and activities that help students engage respectfully in learning about the Residential School System in Canada. Through age-appropriate texts, media and literature in classrooms, students will learn from survivors and intergenerational survivors about the impacts that the residential school system has, and continues to have on, Indigenous families, communities, and peoples in what is now commonly referred to as Canada.

Staff are provided with slide decks of vetted resources from the Indigenous Education Team and guidance on how to incorporate this content into their classrooms safely and respectfully. Classes are also invited to participate in online sessions offered throughout the week from the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation. As students learn about Indigenous histories, it is also the goal that their learning will lead to a greater understanding of, and appreciation for, the resilience, resistance and resurgence within Indigenous communities and Peoples today.

For some students, these topics may create strong emotions or at times might trigger students who have, or whose families have, experienced trauma and/or are Indigenous Peoples who have been impacted by the Residential School System. We want to ensure that families, particularly Indigenous families, know that this content will be covered in classes, so that they can make informed choices about their child’s participation. The goal of this learning is to develop and deepen students’ knowledge and understanding of Canada’s past, and to do so in ways that are safe, respectful, and appropriate for all students.

For many generations, First Nations, Métis and Inuit children did not learn about themselves in school and their right to safe and equitable education was denied. Teaching about the Residential School System in UGDSB schools is part of our commitment to fulfilling the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Call to Action 62 to “make age-appropriate curriculum on residential schools, Treaties, and Aboriginal peoples’ historical and contemporary contributions to Canada a mandatory education requirement for Kindergarten to Grade Twelve students.”

Citizenship education is an important facet of students’ overall education and part of the Ontario curriculum. Truth and Reconciliation Week gives students opportunities to learn what it means to be a responsible, active citizen and how they might work towards reconciliation throughout their lifetimes and within their local communities.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact your classroom teacher/school.

Hello Paisley Panthers!

Clothing orders are open online for students, staff and parents. Many items raise a small amount of funds for school-wide projects. This order window is open until October 24 with free, to-school shipping in early November. If your order contains a gift, please say so in the notes and your order will be held at the office for pick-up instead of being delivered to your child's class to go home. This is one great way to show some school spirit!

Dear Paisley Road Families,

Your school council is excited to announce that Pizza Day is back for the 2025/2026 school year.  We have partnered with Domino's Pizza this year who have been working closely with the Ministry of Education to develop a delicious and nutritious pizza offering for Ontario students.  We know that there have been challenges with students getting uniform slices in the past so we have decided to move to 8 slices per pizza instead of 10 which is easier for the provider to slice consistently and results in a decidedly bigger slice.  We've also moved up to a 15" pizza to make sure everyone goes home with full bellies. With all of that said, we have decided to increase the price to $2 per slice this year.

Pizza sales are open now on School Cash Online.  There will be NO same day cash sales for this pizza session which will run from October 9th to December 18th.

As always, the profits from pizza will help bring amazing programs and opportunities to our kids at school.  Some of these include field trip funding, school yard equipment, classroom supports, library and builder space improvements and a whole lot more.  If you're interested in learning how school council funds are allocated or about any of the other initiatives that council is currently undertaking, please join us for our next meeting on Tuesday October 21st at 6:30pm in the school library.

Thanks,

Your School Council
