Return to school February 8th

Posted February 5, 2021

Dear OC Families,

As you have likely heard, in-person learning resumes on Monday February 8th for students who were not enrolled in the remote school. Students previously enrolled in the remote school will continue with this as they have been.

Masks Outside

The Ministry has now mandated that if physical distancing is not possible, students must wear masks outside at recess. We know that many of our students struggle to maintain distancing when playing outside; so we will be asking all students to wear masks outside. If students wish to move away from others and take a ‘mask break’, they can do this.  So by default, students will be asked to wear masks outside…but they can choose to step ‘away’ from friends and take a mask break.  Arm’s length is not enough distance for a mask break…they need to far enough away that they couldn’t touch the other person if both tried. We will be discussing this new safety measure with students when they return to class. Bringing a second (backup) mask to school if possible is recommended for students.

Chromebook Return

If you have borrowed a Chromebook from the school, please bring it back on Monday. Students can check with their classroom teacher for check in procedures.

Line up and tarmac reminder

Families are reminded that students should be lining up in designated areas (spaced out from others) as soon as they enter school grounds. For this reason, we recommend that kids do not come early for school, but instead arrive right before the bell (8:55). Masks must be worn as soon as students are on school grounds.

Reminder of self-screening everyday

Please continue to ensure that you are screening your kids for Covid symptoms using the self-screening tool here.

If the site recommends to stay home, please stay home and call the office to let us know.

I look forward to seeing students again on Monday.

Have a great weekend.

Sean Cameron.
