This year’s Fire Prevention Week (FPW) campaign “Cooking Safety Starts with YOU. Pay Attention to Fire Prevention” works to educate everyone about simple but important actions they can take to keep themselves and those around them safe when cooking. Cooking remains the leading cause of residential loss fires, this FPW campaign is reminding residents that a fire can start quickly in the kitchen but with simple actions, can be prevented before disaster strikes. 2) Important Attendance Message

We want students to stay home when they’re really sick, so it’s important that they come to school as often as they can otherwise. If they’re well enough, they should be at school. Usually, we find that students are able to make it through the day if they’re tired or have started their day with a headache.

When you can, please schedule dentist or doctor appointments for outside of school hours or during nutrition breaks. Please send your children to school before the appointment starts and send them back after the appointment is over so they don’t miss out on learning time.

Did you know that missing just two days of school per month adds up to 10% of the school year overall? That’s like missing a full month of learning! For more information about school attendance, visit www.ugdsb.ca/parents/student-attendance-at-school-tips-and-strategies-for-families/
