1) School Fundraising
Check your child’s backpack on Monday for information about the upcoming launch of our FundScrip fundraiser! Please promote this gift card fundraiser widely with your friends and family. Expected delivery date of December 1st to be in time for holiday parties, Secret Santa gift exchanges and even your own shopping!
Also on Monday, our annual Poinsettia Fundraiser opens on SchoolCash Online. Start your Christmas shopping early with a beautiful poinsettia! This year we are happy to offer 2 colors to choose from in 3 different sizes. Proceeds from this fundraiser will be allocated towards school events and instructional supplies. Pick up will be at the annual Winter Market on November 18th between 9-12 PM.
There will be LOTS of items to purchase at the Winter Market including house plants and succulents, home decor, outdoor greenery, baked goods and beautiful handmade items. There is even a Silent Auction! Each class is assigned a theme to collect items for a gift basket which is donated to the Winter Market Silent Auction. The theme will be sent home with you child on Wednesday, November 1st and basket donation items are due Monday, November 13th. Thank you for your support!
2) Allergy Awareness
Hallowe’en is almost here, along with the treats that might contain nuts, seeds, or other allergens. While we cannot create an ‘allergen-free’ environment, we do try to have our school be ‘allergy-safe.’ Please review the labels of any treats you send in and please do your best to avoid sending items containing cashews, peanuts, and sesame seeds at Hallowe’en time and year-round.
Ponsonby PS is also a ‘scent aware’ building. Many highly-scented products, like personal hand sanitizers, fabric softeners and perfumes can trigger migraines, shortness of breath, or other conditions for people who are sensitive to those fragrance chemicals. We are requesting that the community support us in our efforts to promote a scent-aware environment by reducing your use of scented products at school.
3) Did you know? Canada Dental Benefit
Applications for the second period of the Canada Dental Benefit are open. Eligible families can receive up to $650, to help with expenses for their children under 12 who receive dental care between July 1, 2023 and June 30, 2024. canada.ca/dental
