Principal’s Message – December 6, 2020

Posted December 6, 2020

So we all survived the first snow day of the school year.  We hope that your kiddos were able to spend some time outside enjoying the beautiful snow.  A reminder that teachers will post things on the Google Classroom during these days for those of you who would like your child to have some school work to do.  A reminder that no student will be penalized for not completing the work.  Do what works for your family.

Thank you to our amazing School Council who met on Thursday evening.  We appreciate the time you have put into supporting our students in these unprecedented times.  School Council has generously funded and purchased outdoor equipment for all of our classes which our students are already putting to good use.  We look forward to a time when all of our amazing parent volunteers will be able to come into the building again.

A reminder that the Winter Weather Fund is now active on School Cash Online for those of you who want to sponsor the purchase of mitts, hats, and socks to keep students warm and cozy.  We would also use funds from this account to support children who may need boots, snowpants and jackets.  We want everyone to feel comfortable in the great outdoors.

Thank you to those students who volunteered to participate in the salad bar interviews.  Mrs. Robertson and I had fun listening to your favourite memories of the salad bar, including stories of the Fender Blender smoothies and trying new vegetables like heirloom carrots, sprouts (which some referred to as grass) and watermelon radishes.  From the stories told we know that many students are missing it and looking forward to having it in the future.

Friday spirit days are well underway.  We all had a cozy, comfy Friday.  This week we are encouraging students to dress in candy cane colours.

We look forward to another fun week of learning.
