Family Engagement & Participation

Posted February 3, 2021

Hello Primrose Families! School Council has some exciting news to share and we hope you will all play along! We are hoping to encourage family engagement over the next three weeks by holding some fun, family-friendly events to participate in. The School Council Executive decided that we would like to use the $500 PIC funds that we received this year from the ministry in a new way. Each year the ministry provides an allocation of $500 for schools for the purpose of finding creative ways to engage parents and families.

We will hold three weeks of activities and a bonus one for family day on February 15. There will be three selected families chosen for a $50 gift certificate for a local restaurant/market of your choice. Some ideas are Subway, Super Burger, Champ Burger, Terra Nova Public House, Mrs. Mitchell’s, Beyond the Gate, Market in the Mills, Maple Grove Farms, Lennox Farm. All entries received by the deadline will be eligible. The winner will be selected by Mr. Henderson; we will not be judging the submissions. Everyone will have an equal chance. As we are expecting mild weather at the end of this week, the first event will be a snowperson building event. Please get creative, get the whole family dressed for outside and go have some winter fun! Build one or build a whole family, it is up to you! We will switch up these events every week, and we promise to keep it interesting.

The rules are simple. Watch your inbox for the weekly poster and submit your photos to the Parent Council email which is [email protected]. Please indicate your child’s name, grade and teacher.  Please only submit one entry per student. If you have multiple children, each child will get an entry. Please do not include photos of your children so that we can share pictures of the submissions online. If your name is drawn, the school will make arrangements for you to receive your certificate.

The first event closes at Midnight on Sunday, February 7th. The next event will be announced on Monday, and we will do our best to stick to this schedule for the remaining weeks.
