Learning to Unlearn:

An Interactive Workshop

Dear Parents/Guardians and Caregivers!

School Event: March 27th 6-8pm

School Council is excited to offer parents, guardians and caregivers a free reflective workshop that is sure to impact how we view this wonderful and diverse world of ours!

Please join us as we consider how our individual experiences, the media, and our relationships, impact how we understand ourselves and our community.

Did you know that when parents/guardians and caregivers are involved, our schools become a more thriving and positive place to learn and grow. This interactive session is framed with the understanding that as parents, we play a vital role in education, making connections from the classroom to the home.

Led by a facilitator from social change organization Unlearn. Parents and caregivers will engage with Unlearn graphics to identify what each image is communicating, why we may see different things, and to consider how we can expand our ideas to understand each other’s perspectives. The process will help explore strategies that can be used to interrupt bias, stereotypes and discrimination by challenging societal norms that marginalize others.

This is a free event that includes refreshments at the workshop as well as onsite babysitting.

Please sign up for the workshop at: Learning to Unlearn Registration Form. While this registration isn’t mandatory, it will help us to plan better for the event. If utilizing the babysitting service, parents/guardians will not be permitted to leave the school building.

If you have questions/comments about the Learning to Unlearn Workshop, please contact [email protected]. This event is provided to you by Rickson Ridge School Council, and supported through PRO Grant funding by the Parent Involvement Council of UGDSB.
