Weekly Update Nov 7-11

Labour Update: Due to the expected resumption of provincial negotiations between CUPE and the province, CUPE employees will be back at schools effective Tuesday November 8th.

As such, there will be NO shift to remote learning in the UGDSB this week. All schools will remain open to students for in-person learning.

Social Media: We continue to have some issues with snapchat and students have been informed to not accept or invite people without checking with them first. We have fictitious accounts being created and sending inappropriate messages. Please supervise your children on social media by asking them to show you their accounts and encourage them not to encourage the person creating these inappropriate messages-block them instead. The local police were in today to investigate the issue. We have our student social media workshop for grade 6-8 tomorrow afternoon from 1:45-2:45 and the parent workshop is from 6:00-7:00 in the gym. All parents are welcome to attend. Rockwood Parent Social Media Invitation gym.pdf

Dental Screening: The attached dental screening letter is sent home to all students in all grades as we may be screening students in other grades as part of our follow up process.Dental Screenig Letter November 23rd 2022 (1).pdf

Remembrance Day: Students will be receiving poppies on Friday in recognition of Remembrance Day. Parents who wish to donate may click the attached link https://www.legion.ca/remembrance/the-poppy-campaign/donate-to-the-poppy-fund

Students K-5 will be meeting in the gym at 9:00 for a Remembrance Day Assembly. Each grade level will be participating through songs, readings and music to remember what sacrifices have been made for us to live in a peaceful country. We will also have time to think about what we can do to keep peace. Parents are welcome to join us. The program will be about 35 minutes long. Thank you to Mrs. McDougall for organizing this assembly. Our Gr 6-8 students and staff will be going to the cenotaph for a ceremony to remember the fallen soldiers from the Rockwood and Eramosa area. Parents who want to go to the cenotaph at 10:50 am can meet us there. There will be members of the community there as well. Thank you to Mme. Chaves and Mme. Rafalowski for organizing students for this ceremony.
