RRM Parent Update Mar 28

Posted March 28, 2024

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Spring is almost upon us!  We hope that the weather continues to cooperate and we look forward to seeing some flowers blooming soon!

Here are a few updates for you:

A reminder that there is no school on Friday, Mar 29 and Monday, Apr 1 due to the Easter Holiday.

Easter:

Easter is one of the principal holidays, or feasts, of Christianity. It marks the Resurrection of Jesus three days after his death. For many Christian churches, Easter is the joyful end to the Lenten season of fasting and penitence.  If you are celebrating Easter, we wish you a Happy Easter.  If you do not celebrate Easter, enjoy the long weekend!

Ramadan:

Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, is the holy month of fasting for Muslims. During Ramadan, many Muslims will fast (no food or water) from sunrise to sunset. Families often have a pre-dawn meal, suhur, to start the day and break their fast with a meal, iftar, at sunset. This year, Ramadan began on Sunday March 10, 2024, and will end on Tuesday April 9th, 2024, depending on the sighting of the moon. The end of Ramadan is marked by Eid al-Fitr, a holiday celebrated by Muslims around the world.

Power of Perseverance Assembly:

Last Monday, John Park, a professional juggler presented to the whole school about the Power of Perseverance.  It was an entertaining and valuable lesson in how to break down a goal into manageable steps and other tips on how to set and achieve your goals.

Scientists in Schools:

Thank you to School Council for funding the Scientists in Schools Program.  We have had a presentation in Grade 5/6 and other classes have booked Scientists to come in to present to our students!

School Council “Lunchbox” info:

The Lunchbox program is starting next week.  Please order by Sunday at noon for the upcoming week.  The Lunchbox options have had a few additions including some Pita Pit options.  Please contact our School Council if you have any questions.
