Dear Salem Families,

Please read the letter below and don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns. Please do not come to the school if; You have symptoms (fever, cough, runny nose, sore throat or shortness of breath), have travelled outside of Canada in the past 14 days, have been in close contact with a confirmed or probable case of COVID-19. If you are unable to make it to the school during the scheduled time please let me know and we can make alternative arrangements.

Report Card / Yearbook Pick Up

We will be open at the school for Report Card and Yearbook pick up on Wednesday, June 24th from 9:00 to 6:00.  Mrs. Shantz and Ms. Skerritt will have tables set up with items to be picked up. Weather providing we will set up outside. Although we don’t predict long line ups if there is a line up we are confident that we will be able to move everyone through quickly. Please practice proper social distancing practices at all times when at the school.

Student Items for Pick Up

We do have a number of items that belong to students that have not yet been picked up. These can also be picked up on Wednesday, June 24th during the same time.

Graduation Certificates

Grad certificates will be available for pick up during this time as well. As well as a special treat to help our graduates celebrate!

New to Kindergarten at Salem

New to Kindergarten at Salem information bags will also be available for pick up on this day.

Returning Items

Thank you to all of our parents and guardians who have helped support student distance learning during our closure period.  We hope the use of the borrowed Chromebook has been helpful. We have had many requests from families wondering if they can keep the Chromebook over the summer to continue to support learning and help children stay engaged in their learning. The answer is yes!   Feel free to keep the Chromebook you have for return to our school in September. For those moving to a new Upper Grand DSB school you may continue to use the same device you currently have and return to our school in the fall. If you choose to keep the Chromebook over the summer please remember to fully shut it down regularly to ensure it accesses updates over the summer when it is turned back on.

For those students moving to a new school board for the fall and for families who would prefer to return their Chromebooks over the summer please drop off at our school on Wednesday, June 24th between 9:00 and 6:00. If you are still needing your chromebook for June 25th and 26th to complete assignments. Please contact [email protected] for a return day the first week in July.

Any other items (e.g. Library books, home readers, etc.) needing to be returned to the school can also be dropped off on Wednesday, June 24th between 9:00 and 6:00.

Thanks again for your continued support and best wishes for a healthy and safe summer!
