  • Mable’s Labels in sending a cheque totalling $52.53 to Salem Public School for orders made. A reminder will be sent out early to mid-August for any families looking to purchase labels for the 2022/2023 school year (great for summer camp items as well!)

Other/ New Business:

Playground

  • After our playground inspection, it is noted that some minor repairs are needed (chains/bushings/seat) to the special needs swing set. The repairs required were quoted at $796.43.
  • Natasha requested to council to proceed with the playground repairs, and a unanimous vote was made in favour. The playground maintenance fund currently has $1000.00 in it to cover the repair costs.
  • There are some repairs noted in the inspection that will need to be done in the future (not immediate).
  • The UGDSB is covering the costs of edging and a new absorption material needed, this will be happening over the summer.
  • Beginning next year, a plan and ideas should be looked at for the fundraising of a new playground structure. Generally, a 5-year plan and approximately 30-40 thousand dollars is needed.

Pizza Picnic

  • Some help is needed picking up picnic items such as drinks, ice and the frozen desserts. Council members can do this and drop off on picnic day.
  • 5 coolers are needed for the event for ice and drinks to be stored in, council members can provide and drop these off as well.
  • Staff will be handing out the pizza/drink/desert tickets upon entry. Families can then get situated/play in the yard while lining up for their items. Pizza arrives at 5:30pm.
  • Currently 86 families have ordered.
