Every Child Matters – Orange Shirt Day is Sept. 30
Orange Shirt Day is an annual event, held every year on Sept. 30, meant to educate and raise awareness
about the residential school system and the impact it had on Indigenous communities for more than a
century—an impact that continues today. We encourage staff and students to discuss the importance of
reconciliation year round, and as part of these ongoing discussions, to participate in Orange Shirt Day
on Sept. 30. We are encouraging everyone to wear an orange shirt on Sept. 30 and take some time to
learn about the residential school system.
