This Week’s Announcements @ SIB!

Posted December 14, 2020

Dear SIB families,

Happy Holidays everyone! The entire staff at SIB wish all of our students and their families a wonderful Holiday Season and a Happy New Year! We hope this time is full of fun and relaxation and you all find a way to recharge and connect with those who are important to you. Here are this week’s announcements.

#1 Holiday Spirit Days @ SIB: We know that our two week break is right around the corner and to celebrate this next week we are having Holiday Spirit Days! Please feel free to participate in as many days as you wish.

Monday, Dec. 14th – Hat Day (winter toque, baseball hat, festive hats)

Tuesday, Dec. 15th – Fun Sock Day (warm, festive, colourful, mismatched)

Wednesday, Dec. 16th – Sweater day (cozy, any holiday themed, etc)

Thursday, Dec. 17th – Holiday Colour Day (wear the colours that represent the holiday you celebrate)

Friday, Dec. 18th – Pajama Day

#2 Grade 8 High School Info Night: There is a letter on the board website about virtual Grade 8 Info Nights and various supports for grade 8 students and their parents. Click the link to access: https://www.ugdsb.ca/blog/information-for-grade-8-students-and-their-parents-guardians/.

#3 Winter Break starts December 19th and the school is closed till January 4th: As we do not know what the future could bring over this time please have your child(ren) bring home all their personal items from school by Friday of this week.

#4 JK Registration starts Tuesday January 5th: Please pass this information on to anyone you know who has a child starting in September 2021. Watch our website for full details.

#5 Drop Off of Items for Students: If your child has forgotten their lunch or any other important item to help them get through the day please deliver it to the front office by calling when you arrive. We will be sure to get it to your child. Also, we have one time use cups that we can give to students who forget their water bottle. NOTE: Special deliveries of treats or extras throughout the day complicate the schedule we have created to ensure everyone follows the COVID-19 protocols, please enjoy these outside of school time.

#6 Parent Information: Monitoring and Managing COVID-19, this is an important reminder from Public Health about how we can all work together to help stop the spread. Click the link for information: https://www.ugdsb.ca/sibps/2020/09/18/parent-information-monitoring-and-managing-covid-19/

#7 A Holiday Message from SIB Staff: We are very fortunate that every year at this time we receive many wonderful gifts from our students. This year as a staff we are asking that in lieu of a traditional holiday gift, families consider donating to a charity of their choice if possible. An option is the Children’s Foundation of Guelph and Wellington whose mission is to empower children and youth by connecting families with opportunities to build hope for lifelong change and break the cycle of poverty https://www.childrensfoundation.org/ways-to-help/donate . However, if you prefer to drop off a gift for your child’s teacher please come to the front doors of the school and we can make sure they get to the intended person. Thank you and Happy Holidays!

News regarding school is constantly being updated. SIB will continue to communicate with families step by step with information when it becomes available as we move through the school year. Please continue to check your email, twitter and our website https://www.ugdsb.ca/sibps/ daily for updates.

Happy Holidays, stay a safe distance and stay positive!
