And just like that we have turned the calendar page to June! This month we will be celebrating Pride Month as well as Indigenous History month.  We would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to all of our William C. Winegard families for your work and support this year with returning to in-person learning for the majority of the year. Way to go Wolf Pack! Please continue to check both the Board and the School website for updates and important dates.

June 1 – Pride Flag Raising Day
June 1 – Junior/Intermediate Track and Field Day
June 3 – PD Day – No School for Students
June 3 – JK Kindergarten Orientation

Please inform the office if you will be moving.
If you haven’t already done so, now is the time to register your child for JK.
Children born in 2018 are eligible to join the Wolf Pack this September.

If your child has any new serious medical conditions, life threatening allergies or medications taken during the school day, please talk to your child’s teacher and the office to ensure the school has updated information. Students who have an existing plan of care will receive an
Annual Renewal for the Plan of Care form during the month of June. Kindly fill it out and return it to the school as soon as possible.

Staff and students in grade 3 and grade 6 have been working hard to complete practice assessments using the new online EQAO assessment platform. EQAO testing will occur throughout the month of June.

Our kindergarten staff are excited to meet our newest members of the wolf pack on Friday, June 3 at 9:00 a.m. Students who are expected to start JK next year are invited to join us, along with their parents for a brief presentation in the gym followed by a tour of our Kindergarten classrooms. The event will begin at 9:00 a.m.

Inclusive Pride Flag

Our Rainbow Alliance is thrilled to announce some of the following ways our Wolf Pack will recognize Pride Month.  Some of these activities include reading books with positive queer themes and messages, side-walk chalk art messages and drawings, and a fundraiser to raise money for more queerfriendly literature in our library.  We are also excited to announce our new inclusive pride flag will be raised for the month of June.

We are looking forward to celebrating our graduating class of 2022. The grade 8 graduation will be on June 28th. More details will come to our graduating students as we approach the date.Class Of 2022

Primary Play Day will take place on Monday June 20th. Please send your child with sunscreen on and ensure they have a water bottle. The rain date is Thursday June 24th.

Jumbo Freezies will be available to buy during the second recess on Friday June 10, 17 and 24th for $1 (a loonie).

Library book exchange ends May 27th. The final due date for all library books is June 2nd. Please look carefully at home for all books borrowed from the WCW Library. Overdue/fine slips will be addressed to individual students and sent home starting June 6th.

A big thanks for all your support as we start to wind down the school year. Here’s an update on our April & May events:

Plantables seedling fundraiser. Some families may have already got their deliveries. We invite you to post some pictures on the Facebook pages as you plant and grow your veggies, etc. We would love to see the results (cucamelons, we’re looking at you!) We raised $348.80 for our school.

Dominos Raising the Dough night. We are pleased to announce that Mr. Hopkin’s grade 4 class was the winning class and will receive a party before the end of the year. We are happy to share that the $258.00 dollars raised will go back to the school. Our apologies if the ordering was not as smooth as it has been in the past. Between a system upgrade and some locations not receiving our codes, we thank all that persevered and got an order placed.

As always, follow/join the facebook groups for more updates on social media.
