If you are looking for an easy way to label your child’s belongings (PLEASE label your child’s belongings!) Check out https://mabelslabels.com and choose “Support a Fundraiser” then select William C. Winegard. The school receives 20% back on all purchases!

PIZZA AND MILK

Pizza and milk orders may be made online through https://ugdsb.schoolcashonline.com/

Please note all orders must be done online as no order forms will be coming home. Orders must be in by Thursday, March 2nd at midnight.   LATE ORDERS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED!

KISS AND RIDE

It has been very busy in the Kiss and Ride area and the parking lot.  The Kiss and Ride zone is meant as a drop and go area.  Cars are not to be parked and left unattended.  If you need to park, pull into a parking spot or park on the available side streets.  We need to keep the parking lot and the bus area clear and safe.

SCHOOL COUNCIL NEWS

A big thank you to all that came out to support our students as they sang the national anthem at the Guelph Storm game on Sunday February 5th. Such an exciting way to spend the afternoon and support our school at the same time.

Do you have a great idea for future fundraising at William C. Winegard or some time to volunteer? Please send us an email at [email protected]

SPRING DRILLS
During the spring we will be conducting the following drills:
-3 Fire Drills
-Severe Weather Drill
-Bomb Threat Drill
-Lockdown Drill

LEARNING COMMONS

Does your child have a lost or damaged library book? Please let their teacher know, so that we can reset student accounts and update the library’s records. If you would like to replace the book, we recently added a new item to School Cash Online that allows families to donate to the library. There are several preset donation amounts to choose from. At the end of the school year we will use these funds to replace some of our most popular book series. Thanks to those who have already made a contribution!

RECESS REMINDERS

As we move into the early spring season, our yard can become wet, icy and slippery. Staff send reminders to children who like to ‘explore’ our puddles and mud of the need to stay away from these areas for both safety and cleanliness reasons. We will close muddy, icy and wet areas when needed. However, it is inevitable that some children will find mud and become wet and dirty. Please consider adding an extra pair of socks and pants to your child’s backpack.

FOOD AND FRIENDSDownload

William C. Winegard PS and The Children’s Foundation of Guelph and Wellington are working hard to meet the growing need in our community, and that includes fighting food insecurity through our Help Kids Live Free From Hunger “30 in 30” campaign. 100% of the funds raised between February 2nd – March 4th will go towards providing healthy meals to students through our School/Agency program. With your help, we can continue to provide meals for our community.  This year, the need is greater than ever. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, 1 in 3 children may experience food insecurity, and with rising food costs a healthy Food & Friends meal can cost an average of $3.40 compared to $1.85 a year ago.

The Children’s Foundation of Guelph and Wellington is challenging community supporters – businesses, organizations, and individuals – to make an impact on the lives of local children and youth by helping us meet our regional goal of 30,000 meals. We hope you’ll join us in this challenge and help support those in need within our School/Agency community. Campaigns like Live Free help us continue to meet the growing need within our community and ensure those most in need feel supported. Please Click here to donate to Live Free. If you choose William C. Winegard PS from the drop-down list your donation will be directed to the student nutrition program at School/Agency or donate to help the most in need. Families also have the option to donate through our schoolcashonline.com

Thank you for helping us continue to support our community in times of need!
