Gauss Math Contest

Grade 7 and 8 students are invited to write the University of Waterloo Gauss Math Contest. Our Math minds at Winegard are keen to show off their problem-solving skills!  This is a great opportunity for students to extend their ingenuity, insight, and logical thinking. Students who have indicated interest will write Wednesday, May 15th during school time.

ImagesSCHOOL COUNCIL

Save the Date!  On June 6th, our William C. Winegard School Council is excited to host our Family Picnic Event.  More info will be shared about the draw and details of this school-wide event.  Stay Tuned!

SPECIAL OLYMPICS

The Special Olympics are back for 2024! With a focus on friendly competition and companionship, the event provides the opportunity for students with exceptional physical or cognitive abilities to participate in track and field events, set goals, develop skills and improve their overall levels of fitness. Peer coaches play an important role in motivating the athletes and building connections. Although the top athletes will be recognized for their efforts in the different events, everyone comes away feeling like a winner! Winegard students will be cheering on our Special Olympics athletes as they head to St. James to compete on May 15th – best of luck to our wolves!

TRACK and FIELD

It’s time for WCW’s annual Track and Field meet! This year, on May 17th, our junior and intermediate students will be headed to Marden Park (Royal Distributing Athletic Performance Centre). Students are busy practicing their skills in gym classes and will have the opportunity to sign up to compete in 3+ events. If you’re available to volunteer on the day or drop by to cheer on your child, family is most welcome! A schedule of events for the day will be shared soon – stay tuned.

We are very excited to invite you to this year’s Scholastic Book Fair! From Monday, May 6th to Friday May 10th, we will be hosting the book fair in our Library Learning Commons. There will be hundreds of books for students and families to purchase and a percentage of all sales is donated back to the school, allowing us to buy more items for the library!

The book fair will be open for students during break times from Monday to Friday. Any families wishing to visit are welcome to come after school until 5:00 on Wednesday, May 8th and Thursday, May 9th. If you are interested in volunteering at the fair after school on one of these days, please contact [email protected]

We look forward to seeing you!

Lost and Found

When you are in the school, please make a point of checking out our lost and found which is located in the front foyer of theImages school.  Classroom teachers take their students to retrieve items on a regular basis.  At the end of each month, items are donated to non-profit organizations.
