We are excited to celebrate the Halloween tradition with a few modifications this year.  Please connect with your child’s teacher about the specifics of October 29.  Here are some general guidelines:

Kindergarten:

Encourage your child to wear something with Halloween spirit such as black, white, or orange colours, spooky socks or a graphic t-shirt. Please note that Kindergarten students will NOT be wearing or changing into their costumes like previous years due to our health and safety protocols of providing support to our students. Whatever your child wears to school is what they will wear for our Halloween activities on Thursday October 29th.

Grade 1-8:

Students have several options:

  • Wear everyday clothes
  • Wear colours or clothes that show Halloween spirit (black and orange)
  • Wear a minimalist costume with your regular covid-mask that adheres to our Halloween Do’s and Don’ts

If students wish to wear a costume, here is a list of Do’s and Don’ts:

Costume Do’s Costume Don’ts
– follow the Aberfoyle Dress Code

– follow our school code of conduct found on our website

– wear black and orange

– wear costume appropriate for school

– dress up as a character from your favourite book or movie

– use makeup or face paint (and regular mask)

– ensure your costume won’t get in your way because it will be worn for the whole day

– check that your costume is safe (i.e. not too long)

– be creative!

– have fun!

– do not wear dress up masks

– no weapons

– no props

– no violent references

– you don’t have to dress up at all

– no costumes that are representative of another culture, religious beliefs, or gender

Please note that our younger students may be sensitive to scary images.

If students dress up,  they will wear costumes all day (this will assist with distancing as often younger students require a significant amount of help)

Accessories are to stay home – to minimize items brought to school.

Please note that we will not have food brought in from families. Please do not send in any candy or treats for students in your child’s class.

Students still need to wear their COVID mask.
