Aberfoyle PS Labour Update

Posted November 6, 2022

As you know, the Provincial labour issue with CUPE is a changing, fluid situation.  The Board has announced that keeping our school open, healthy and safe beyond Tuesday, without our valued CUPE employees, is not sustainable.  Therefore, without a change to the current situation, elementary schools will switch to remote learning on Wednesday, November 9th.

Technology

If you do not have technology at home to participate in remote learning, the school can lend you a chromebook.  Please fill out this request form if you need a device.  It is important to note that we have limited devices and will be prioritizing one chromebook per family to begin with. We will aim to send these home with students on Tuesday.

Pizza

Due to our large order with our pizza supplier, we will need to make a determination on Monday on whether or not we should make the order.  If we do not make the order, any missed pizza days will be carried over to December and January.  We will send out an email tomorrow letting you know the decision.

Communication

As a reminder, the school office will use Robocalls for time-sensitive information.  We will email you with important information, which will often be linked to our Aberfoyle PS website (instead of the body of the email) so that it can easily be accessed by web-based accessibility and translation tools.  Please keep your email address and phone number up to date with the office.

General information and reminders will be posted to the website and the UGConnect app.  Download information can be found here.

The Board, centrally, may also directly robocall you, send out information to our website or push notifications to the UGConnect app.  They have provided information on the labour situation through www.ugdsb.ca/labour

Thank you for your ongoing understanding,

A. Cloutier

Principal
