School Council Meeting – September 16, 2021
Please see a message below from our Alma PS School Council Chair, Amanda Reid. Our first meeting is tomorrow evening, Thursday, September 16, from 6:30-8:00 PM. For the time being, meetings will be held virtually using Google Meet. Families who had been on the email list will receive a second email tomorrow afternoon from the school with a link that can be used to join by video call or by phone. If you are not on that list of families or just want to double-check that you are, please email our new School Council email, [email protected], before noon tomorrow and we will add you to the list.
I am looking forward to virtually meeting more of you and sharing about all of the great things happening at Alma PS this fall.

And now, a message from our School Council Chair:
Welcome back Alma Public School families!! For those that do not know me, my name is Amanda Reid and I am the Parent Council Chair for the 2021/2022 school year. On behalf of the Parent Council we hope you and your families had a great summer and that your children have all settled into the new school year!
If you are a new parent this year, or a seasoned parent to the Alma Public School community we would love to have you join us on Alma Public School council this year. I have been a parent council member myself since my son started at Alma Public School, and now with two children in the school, it’s an amazing way to stay informed about what is going on, items we are fundraising towards, and the joy we can bring with activities in the classroom, or leading up to holidays as well as getting to know the teachers, school administrators and what needs they have for the school and/or classroom.
In recent years, the Alma Public School council, in participation with the school and parents, have been very successful in generating funds that support some of the programs at Alma PS. The money is raised through fundraising opportunities such as our ever popular chicken fundraiser, or the Christmas Kitchen Kuttings etc! We as a council were also responsible for some fun Halloween and Christmas packages for the kids to take home and enjoy, and pumpkin contest prizes! Scientists in the Classroom days were a big hit for many of our students last year, repairs to our playground equipment and maintenance, as well as grade 6 graduation celebrations and so much more.
Please come out and join in the planning, fundraising and joy that council members get at working together to create a positive, happy, and rewarding school year for the community of Alma Public School.
