MORE Updates For February 6-10, 2023

Posted February 7, 2023

Hello Alma Families!  Here are 5 MORE things you need to know today to keep up to date this week:

  1. Our weather potentially looks like there might be less snow for Friday afternoon due to Thursday’s projected rain so we are going to be moving our Alma Winter Games to tomorrow, Wednesday, February 8th, during the third block to try and have better weather for the event.  Thanks in advance for sending extra winter clothing if it is needed as we will be outside for longer that day.

  1. A representative of the Cops For Cancer program is traveling from Georgian Bay to Lake Ontario this week to raise funds for the Canadian Cancer Society.  He passed by today, and several students were able to take a quick break and cheer him on.  I sent a photo via email.  Some students asked about wanting to donate.  If you are interested, you can learn more here:  https://www.helpmeburycancer.com/

  1. We are so blessed to have such amazing things going on at Alma PS.  From chess club to drama club, to 3D printing challenges and Junior inter-school sports, there’s a little something for everyone here at Alma PS.  Thanks to all of our amazing staff for leading such wonderful learning experiences for our children as we truly learn not for school, but for life.

  1. Our latest School Council fundraiser is starting!  Paperwork for our fundraising from JD Sweid Foods and Harriston Packing Company is coming home.  Orders are due into the school on Tuesday, February 21st (the day after Family Day).  Please ensure all paperwork is returned to the school so we can cross-reference the online orders.  The pickup of items at the school will be 3:30-5:30 PM on Thursday, March 9th.  If you have any questions or need support, please contact the school office.

  1. Parents and guardians of elementary school children are invited to participate in the Strengths to Grow research study. This brief study is entirely online and can be completed at any time. Participants will complete two 10-minute surveys and the 30-minute Strengths to Grow program which helps parents identify and develop their child’s unique strengths. Every participant receives free access to the Strengths to Grow program and the first 400 participants receive a $5 Tim Horton’s gift card. For more information, follow this link https://bit.ly/strength-research.

Thanks as always for your continued support.  If there’s anything the school can do to help, please let us know.  We’re here to help!

Take care,

Jason Boyce
