Updates For May 22-26, 2023

Posted May 26, 2023

Hello Alma Families!  Here are 3 things for you that are key to know for this week and next:

  1. Please remember that next Friday, June 2 is our next PA Day and there will be no school.  Staff will be working on literacy and other professional activities and working on report cards in the afternoon.

  1. We are still looking for a few more volunteers for the Alma Optimist Bike Rodeo which will be held on June 15th with a rain date of June 16th.  The organizers of the event are looking for 6 volunteers who could volunteer from 8:45 AM to 3:00 PM.  If you are interested in volunteering at this event, please contact the school office and we can ensure that you have the appropriate paperwork completed.

  1. In the UGDSB we are working diligently towards being a safe, equitable and inclusive environment for all.  Every child deserves to feel safe, known, heard and that they belong.  One group which has not always felt this way is the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.  Across the UGDSB, during the month of June, the pride flag will be flown at board offices and schools, including Alma PS. To learn more about this initiative, as well as other equity projects in the UGDSB, please see the following information:  https://www.ugdsb.ca/schools/safe-equitable-and-inclusive-schools/equity-and-inclusive-education/

Thanks as always for your continued support.  If there’s anything the school can do to help, please let us know.  We’re here to help!

Take care,

Jason Boyce

Principal Alma PS
