Updates For March 21-25, 2022

Posted March 23, 2022

Hello Alma Families!  I trust you are safe and sound on this icy day.  I hope you had a restful March Break and enjoyed some extra family time with your children.  I am extremely proud of how well our students and families have transitioned back to our new protocols and procedures at our school.  Thanks so much for helping coach them through the expectations and teaching them what works best for your family.  You can be very proud of a job well done.  Here are the 5 things you need to know today to keep up to date this week:

  1. Over the March Break the UGDSB upgraded our main software.  Due to this change, the place where online Report Cards are stored has changed.  Starting now, if you require access, please use the new link for Alma PS that is provided on this website page:  https://www.ugdsb.ca/parents/connected/. If you previously bookmarked this on your device, you will need to create a new one.

  1. Epilepsy Awareness Day is actually on Saturday, March 26, but this Friday, March 25 we will wear purple to help create awareness and learn more about this life-changing condition.  Thanks to our Student Council for planning these important initiatives.

  1. As the UGDSB shifts one of our Educational Assistant roles from a Long Term Occasional position to a contract one, we will be having a change of staff starting on Monday, March 28.  Miss Brown has done an amazing job supporting our students.  We want to thank her for a job well done and wish her all the best in her new ventures.  Mrs. Thompson will be joining our team and we wish her a warm Alma PS welcome.

  1. We were extremely blessed to receive a generous donation of $1,000 for our school’s snack program from the Grand River Agricultural Society.  We greatly appreciate their support as this will help to bring healthy food to hungry minds.

  1. This message is a reminder that parents/caregivers with child/ren attending an Upper Grand District School Board school located in North Wellington are invited to join the North Wellington Hub.

The Hub is an opportunity for parents/caregivers in North Wellington to meet on a regular basis to discuss topics related to their child/ren’s schools and education, and to receive information from the board related to schools.

The purpose of the Hub is to facilitate communication and collaboration about North Wellington schools in a positive and respectful environment, where information is exchanged, learning and understanding is provided, and more.

The North Wellington Hub will be facilitated by Trustee Robin Ross and will invite members of School Councils and parents/caregivers in North Wellington to participate.

Meetings will be held several times per year, with opportunities for both in-person and virtual attendance.

The first meeting will be held at 7 PM pm on March 29, 2022, at Wellington Heights Secondary School located at 405 Sligo Road East in Mount Forest and virtually.

Please RSVP by completing this form: North Wellington Hub.  If you have difficulty accessing the link, please copy and paste it into a Google Chrome browser.

If you have questions about the North Wellington Hub, please contact Robin Ross at [email protected]

Thanks as always for your continued support.  If there’s anything the school can do to help, please let us know.  We’re here to help!

Take care,

Jason Boyce
