From the Principal’s Desk – October 2, 2023

Posted October 2, 2023

Hello Arbour Vista families,

Thank you to those of you who were able to join us at our Open House last Thursday evening. It was wonderful to see so many parents, guardians and community members come together to support our students, allowing them to showcase their accomplishments so far this year.

BULLYING PREVENTION PLAN

Our Bullying Prevention and Intervention Plan is posted on our School Website under the RESOURCES  tab. There you will see the ways in which our school is committed to helping children  feel safe, included and engaged in school.

IDENTITY BASED HARM AND/OR BULLYING BUTTON

This button is located on our school’s website and the main UGDSB webpage. The Report Identity-Based Harm and/or Bullying tool gives students and parents 24/7 access to reporting. You do not have to identify yourself – just your school – and your message gets sent directly to the school principal for follow-up.

OCTOBER IS INTERNATIONAL WALK/WHEEL TO SCHOOL MONTH

The Upper Grand District School Board is participating in International Walk/Wheel to School Month this October and iWALK/iWHEEL Day on October 4th. As part of this month, we are encouraging students and staff to walk, wheel or roll to and from school throughout the month, where able and where it is safe to do so.

 PARENTS OF GRADE 8 STUDENTS

Students and caregivers can look forward to board messaging around Grade 8-9 transitions as October approaches. The public-facing calendar on the UGDSB website will continuously be updated to share information with families about opportunities to prepare for the transition to high school.

Our first school council meeting will take place on October 3 from 6:30- 7:30, through Google Meet. The link used is posted on our website under the SCHOOL COUNCIL tab. Please note that the link may need to be copied and pasted into a new tab.
