Back Heritage, Black Brilliance, and Black Futures Month – Every Wednesday this year we will learn about a Black Canadian that made history. Have you heard of Anderson Abbott? Anderson became the first Canadian-born Black doctor. Although he worked very hard for his success, he also knew he had privileges which had helped him that many other people did not have. So Anderson used his voice to advocate for the end of racial segregation in schools. He believed that all children should have access to the same quality of education.

Intramural Badminton – Intramural Badminton will begin this week at lunch in the gym. It will be Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday starting at 12:05. The Intercity Badminton tournament will be held on Thursday March 28th at Laurel Heights in Waterloo. You must come to intramurals to be considered for the Intercity team.

Skills Ontario International Women’s Day – Linamar is hosting a Skills Ontario International Women’s Day on March 7. This is an opportunity to learn about skilled trades and hear from women who have excelled in their industries. We invite all female-identifying students to take part in this event. Please pick up a field trip form from Ms. Omland in the co-op office.

Yearbook Theme Voting – Hey Huskies! The yearbook class wants your help with choosing this year’s yearbook theme. Complete the Google Form on your specific Google Classroom to rank the finalists. They are – Comic s& Graphic Novels, 80s and 90s Retro, Graffiti Street Art, and Video Games. One student who filled out the form will win a free yearbook! Entries will be accepted until the end of the day Friday, so fill out the form for your chance at a free yearbook!

Pink Shirt Day – Wednesday is Pink Shirt Day! Inspired by an act of kindness in Nova Scotia, now over 180 countries participate by wearing pink on Wednesday to create a kind inclusive atmosphere that allows everyone to be themselves and raise awareness of the dangers of bullying. So wear your pink on Wednesdays Huskies!

Conestoga College Trip – We are organizing a trip to Conestoga College on Tuesday March 26th. We will be visiting 2 or 3 campuses depending on timing. Students will get a sandwich and a baked good. The cost is $5 but can be waived if necessary. Come to guidance to get forms. If you went on the trip last year you will be placed on a waitlist. See Mr. Smith with any questions.

Motorama Custom Auto Show – Any transportation students wanting to go to the Motorama Custom Auto Show on March 8th. Please see Mr. Warren for more information. We leave at 9 am and return by 3 pm. Cost for the ticket is $15.
