Naw Ruz – Naw Rúz, (also known as No Rouz, Nowruz, or Noruz) is the Bahá’í and Persian New Year. It marks the official beginning of spring and a brand new year. Naw Rúz, literally means “new day,” which is fitting since it’s all about new beginnings. Naw Rúz is celebrated with many symbols indicating spring and renewal.

Youth in Policing Initiative – The Guelph Police is accepting applications until April 26th for the Youth in Policing Initiative. This is a full time summer job where students gain exposure to the Guelph Police. It’s available for students that are 15-18 years old and returning to school in September 2024. See the grade specific Google classrooms for details or come to Guidance for more information.

Chess Championship – Do you want to be crowned College Heights chess champion? Come sign up for the College Heights chess tournament with Mr. Caswell in C106 at lunch. Games will be played Wednesday at lunch.

Women’s History Month – March is Women’s History Month. Have you heard of Bernice Redmon? Bernice applied to nursing school in Canada. She was rejected because of her skin colour. Bernice found a loophole. U.S. nursing schools accepted Black students. Bernice crossed the border and got her degree. Then she returned to Canada and worked in Nova Scotia as the country’s first Black nurse. Bernice’s story helped change racist admission restrictions and mad health care in Canada more diverse.

Summer School Registration – Registration is open for summer school. Please see the grade specific google classrooms for information or come to Guidance and talk to Mr. Smith.

Conestoga College Trip – We are organizing a trip to Conestoga College on Tuesday March 26th. We will be visiting 2 or 3 campuses depending on timing. Students will get a sandwich and a baked good. The cost is $5 but can be waived if necessary. Come to guidance to get forms. See Mr. Smith with any questions.

Bake Sale – Bake Sale is happening today after school. Please remember to line up outside of the bake shop. C101
