Ropes Course at CMES:

CMES Climbing Course Letter 2018

We have been able to book Escarpment Outdoor Adventures to turn our gym into a Rope Climbing Course for all of our students from JK to Gr 8.  The program will be safely modified for all age levels.   Please sign the waiver that will be coming home this week to allow your child to participate (one waiver per child).   Please return the signed form to your child’s teacher by Wednesday, April 4, 2018.  This opportunity will allow our students to participate in the climbing activities during Gym periods on April 9, 10, 11, 12, and 13, 2018.

We thank our CMES School Council for supporting this program and for helping to off-set the cost for our students. Please return the signed waiver form, along with your payment of $8.00 by April 4, 2018. Payment can be made through our School CashOnline website: https://ugdsb.schoolcashonline.com/ . Teachers of Phys Ed will accompany their classes into the gym at their normal gym time. In addition to the EOA staff, there will be some older student helpers available to help with harnesses etc. All harnesses are double checked by a trained adult.

Graduating Students: Dress Drive:

Prom Dress Drive Letter (1)

A letter from ODSS: With the great expense of Prom and Grade 8 Graduation, young girls might not otherwise be
able to afford to outfit themselves for this special night. We would love for you to help us support
this great cause by either donating a dress or shopping at our Tenth Annual Dress Drive. Our
goal is to make sure that each girl has the opportunity to be a princess at her graduation
celebration without placing a financial burden on her family and allow them to have lasting
memories. The Ninth Annual Dress Drive will be held Thursday, April 19th, 2018 in the Dance
Studio at Orangeville District Secondary School from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m . Members of the
community are invited to come check out our selection of dresses; the dresses will be grouped
by size and style. All dresses are priced at $10. This year a number of shoes and a collection of
jewelry will also be available. All proceeds go towards O.D.S.S. Prom 2018.

Please read the above attachment for more information.

Inclusion:

This month’s character education focus at CMES is inclusion. Mrs. Stevanov and Mrs. Neal worked on the theme of inclusion with their students. Thank you to everyone who contributed to this beautiful display!

Grade 3 Outdoor Learning:

Today, Mrs. Papavasiliou had the opportunity to accompany the grade 2/3 and grade 3 classes during their outdoor learning time. Students were busy learning about pioneers by building a pioneer village which included a school house, church, general store, black smith etc. Children were reading about the different structures and explained the purpose of the building and what goods and services it provided to the pioneers.
