Retirement Celebration

Posted January 15, 2018

The time has come for us to wish Mrs. Thompson farewell as she enters into her retirement years. Yes, we know she looks way too young to retire, however; Wednesday, January 31st will be her last day as our Office Coordinator.

Mrs. Thompson’s Upper Grand District School Board career started off in September of 1996. When volunteering at her daughter’s school (Salem Public School), Joanne found herself answering calls, as well as tending to student and staff questions in the office. The rest is history. She began her official office work in 1996. She has touched the lives of staff, students and families at: Arthur PS, J.D.Hogarth, East Garafraxa, Lorianne Ave., Taylor Evans, and Victoria Terrace. Fortunately for us, Elora Public School has been her home since 1999.

It is obvious by her loving manner, that Mrs. Thompson puts kids first each day. When asked what she will miss most about Elora Public School, she replied, “ The people of course! Each student, every parent and all of the staff make this job different everyday. The people have made it easy to come to work each day. That’s what I love.”

You are invited to drop in to our Open House on January 25th, between 5:00 pm  and 7:00 pm.  Stop in to wish her well on this new chapter of her life. Please, best wishes only.
