End of Year Message

Posted June 29, 2021

Hello Elora Families!!

Well, that wraps up the school year 2020-2021.   While many great things still happened at Elora P.S., I think we are all happy to move on to much better and brighter things that lie ahead.

Parents and caregivers!  We appreciate the time and support you have given your children over the past many months.   We can’t imagine the changes and special arrangements that have been made in order to accommodate the switching of learning environments throughout this year.  Thank you!

A shout out to our resilient students as well, who made it through interesting times at school with many special rules, and then made it through learning on Google Meets!

Thank you to our stellar staff who were able to roll with the many changes that came and went and came back again during this school year.  They all worked so hard to make the learning experience for Elora students beneficial, interesting, and fun despite the circumstances.

Staff Changes

We are saying goodbye to Mrs. Ann Pellerin!  After 31 years in education with the past 18 years at Elora, Mrs. Pellerin is retiring.   We appreciate everything she has done for the little ones in our school community and wish her all the best in the future!

Our thanks and best wishes also go to Miss Philips, Ms. Coutu, Ms. Rouble, Ms. Rebellato, Ms. Taylor, Mr. Jewitt, Ms. Andrews and Miss Robinson.  They have all played important roles this year at Elora P.S. and will be moving on to different teaching opportunities.  Mrs. Siegwart was the successful candidate for a program position with the Board, so she will continue her work as an Elementary Inclusion Technology Coach.  Way to go Mrs. Siegwart!

Welcome to Tanya McLaren, April Wasson, and Joe Garofalo who will be joining our teaching staff in September.

Return to School in September

We are waiting for details from Public Health and the province, in terms of what our return to school will look like in September.  We are expecting this information to come through the summer.   We are hoping for the best!    Please keep an eye on our website and the Board website later in the summer for information about:

-first day of school procedures

-what materials to send with your child

-lunch and recess routines

-any updates from the Ministry of Education and Public Health about masking, hand hygiene, cohorting and other protocols

I hope you have a fun and relaxing summer with quality family time (away from screens!).  You all deserve it!

Sincerely,

Curt McQueen

Principal
