Feb 20 – HHES Update – Happy Family Day

Dear Parents and Guardians,
We wish you and your families a safe and happy Family Day 2023.
Here are some of the events and activities happening this month at HHES:
-MacMillan’s Fundraiser:

Parent Council is offering MacMillan’s products as our fundraiser for February/March 2023. Our fundraising campaign will generate funds to support maintenance and repairs for our school playgrounds.

**NEW THIS YEAR:

Our MacMillan’s fundraiser is moving to SchoolCashOnline. All ordering will take place online at https://ugdsb.schoolcashonline.com/  School Cash Online will open for orders on Friday February 17, 2023

Orders will close on School Cash Online on March 8, 2023

Products will be delivered to the school on April 20, 2023  Pick Up will be from 3:00-7:00 pm

We ask that every effort be made to pick up your order on this day as we have no way to store frozen products after this date and time. Any orders not picked up on this date will be donated to our local Food Bank.

– Report card reminder:

Term 1 Report Cards will be available online beginning Tuesday February 14, 2023 at our Report Card Portal here: https://www.ugdsb.ca/parents/connected/ Please select Hyland Heights Elementary School from the list of school to access your student’s report card.

If you need assistance using the online report card portal please visit https://sites.google.com/ugcloud.ca/parenthelp/report-cards-parent-portal?pli=1  If you would prefer a paper copy of your students report card or do not have computer access please call the school at 519-925-3745 extension 0.

 Return slips will be sent home with students this week.  Please return the slip to the classroom teacher after reviewing your student’s report card.

 Black Student Alliance assembly and field trip to high school:
On Tuesday February 21st, Centre Dufferin District High School will be hosting Adonis Rosalle as part of Black Heritage, Black Brilliance, Black Futures month offerings from the Equity and Inclusion Dept.  Adonis’ message focuses on joy, courage and leadership.  We have been invited to send 20 students to share in the experience.  We will be sending members of our Black Student Alliance (BSA).  Later that day our BSA will be hosting 2 school assemblies for our K-3 and 4-8 HHES students to share the contributions of Black people to our community, our country and our world.
– Grad photos:
Wednesday, Feb 22 our Grade 8 students will have their Graduation Photos taken.
 
– Pink day:
The official Day of Pink is Feb 22 – Due to the scheduled Grad photos, HHES will be recognizing the Day of Pink on Thursday, Feb 23.  Wear something pink to support Bullying Prevention.
 Live Free Day:

Thursday, March 2nd is Help Kids Live Free from Hunger Day. Students will be encouraged to select one item/thing that they will live free from on Thursday, March 2nd to support children who live without.  Students will make their pledge for live free day and we will display them around HHES!

Families who wish to donate may do so on School Cash Online or the Live Free From website by March 2nd in support of the Food & Friends program at Hyland Heights. Every dollar raised by the Live Free Campaign will be used to support the student nutrition program run here at Hyland Heights.  Please see the attached documents for more information about this program.

Looking forward to seeing all of our students back on Tuesday, Feb 21st.
