MCPS Parent Council Elections Announcement

On behalf of the members of Minto Clifford Public School Council, we would like to invite you to be a part of the 2022-2023 School Council Election. We are fortunate to be a part of a dynamic, creative, and ethnically diverse school community. With the Principal,Vice Principal, a school staff member, and members of the community, your School Council works toward improving and expanding our children’s learning environment.  Come and share in the education of our children!

School Council positions are held for one-year terms.  School Councils are agents of the school and the UGDSB, and are bound by the same guidelines as the school.  For more information about the School Council please visit School Council Information

Positions up for Election

The following positions are up for election/nomination:

  • Co-Chair (2 people is preferred)/ Chair
  • Secretary
  • Treasurer

Nominations are due by 4pm on Wednesday, September 21st.  Nominees will be shared on the school’s website the following day – Thursday, September 22th, 2022.  Nominees will be contacted prior to information being shared on the school’s website.

The co-chairs are responsible for:

  • Making agenda of the meeting
  • Leading the meetings (minimum 4 a year)
  • Staying connected with administration
  • Being a liaison for the parents of the community and the school

Secretary is responsible for:

  • Taking minutes at all meetings (minimum of 4 a year)
  • Sharing the minutes with the executive and the voting members of the council
  • Sharing the minutes with the school admin to be posted on the board website

Treasurer is responsible for:

  • Working with the school secretary to manage the council’s banking
  • Sharing the financial statements with council at meetings (minimum of 4 a year)
  • Having an understanding of the council’s fund in and out

Elections

Voting will take place Friday, September 23rd and Monday, September 26th.  Ballots will be sent home (one per family), they can be sent back with students or dropped off in person.

Voting Positions

We invite all parents to our first meeting on Sep 27, 2022 5:30-7:00.  At this meeting we will begin with our new executive and co-create School-Council By-laws for the upcoming school year.
