Welcome Back to MCPS – Information for Our School Families (August 2023)

Posted August 30, 2023

Hello MCPS Families,

We are very excited to welcome our students to school for the 2023-2024 school year. We hope that your summer provided opportunities to relax, connect, and make memories. As we prepare for the first day of school on Tuesday, September 5th, we would like to share some information with you about our school. Some of these documents are “live,” meaning any updates will occur as they are available.

If you are new to our school community, our registration day was Tuesday, August 29th. If you still have not registered, please contact our school office.

1) School Information Quick Reference Sheet – This “live” document provides information about the first day and general routines at our school.

2) School Family Handbook – This “live” document provides more detailed information about our school and our school community.

3) Elementary Cycle Day Calendar for 2023-2024 – This link will take you to the School Year calendar for the 2023-2024 school year.

Please note, a digital copy of the September Newsletter will be available on the first day of school via email. In order to reduce our environmental footprint, informational updates from the school will come by email (using UG Messenger) or as push notifications (using UG Connect). Please make sure to update your email address on the Verification Forms coming home at the start of the year to receive these updates.

As in years past, student placements will be shared the first day of school, as these can continue to be adjusted this week. Please understand that class assignments are final, and we ask that you do not call to have your child moved. Staff have spent a great deal of time developing classes based on a detailed set of criteria, focused on student learning and success. We take this process seriously and do our best to plan for the success of all students.

We are looking forward to working together with everyone throughout the upcoming school year.

Mr. Dickieson (Principal), Ms. Phillips (Vice-Principal), Ms. Noble (Office Cooridinator), and the Staff at MCPS
