MCPS Welcome Back Newsletter

Posted September 9, 2023

Hello MCPS Families…

It was exciting to welcome back our students this week for the start of the 2023-2024 school year, and we enjoyed hearing about the adventures and experiences shared by our students over the summer break.

In our Welcome Back assembly Tuesday, we read aloud the story “When Things Aren’t Going Right, Go Left” which shared with our students the importance of trying new things and not letting worries, fears, or frustrations over take their experiences. We also shared how glad we are that everyone is at our school, and how together we are a school community that supports and cares for one another.

We also introduced some big ideas that we will revisit throughout the year: how all emotions are okay it is how we regulate ourselves that is important, the idea of keeping small problems small, showing respect even when you might not get along with a person, and the importance of being safe while learning new things.

This week, you will also notice that a large amount of paperwork came home. Some of these pages need to be returned ASAP. Please read over the verification form carefully and make any changes directly on the page.

Earlier this week, we shared our Welcome Back Newsletter which can be accessed using the FOLLOWING LINK. This document contains a variety of information as we start the school year.

You can also see our MCPS Family Handbook (this link was shared in an earlier email).

We are looking forward to working together with you this year ~ Mr. Dickieson, Ms. Phillips, Ms. Noble, and the Staff at MCPS
