Our School

Mitchell Woods Public School is a K-8 school that opened in 1999.  Located in the northwest corner of Guelph, the school serves a rapidly growing and diverse community of over 500 students. At Mitchell Woods, we are proud of our positive school climate, supported by our excellent staff and actively involved parent community.

At Mitchell Woods we strive to:

BE SAFE
BE KIND
WORK HARD

While offering a balanced curriculum, the school features a technologically rich environment including flat-screen TVs in each classroom as well as chrome books, laptops and a modular science and technology room.  A double gym with stage and a sound system allows for an ideal performance venue as well as a strong athletics program.  We are extremely proud of our music program which boasts a full set of concert band instruments used for both instructional classes and for all students to participate in additional band programs. All three divisions (primary, junior and intermediate) benefit from our music program.  Our intermediate band has performed locally and competed provincially and nationally. We have a modern library resource centre boasting almost 19,000 books for students to access. The school offers a range of programs for special needs.  A wide range of extracurricular activities are available including sports intramurals, choir, band, Eco Club and many more.

The YMCA provides a creatively programmed ‘before and after school program’ to assist families. Please contact the Y directly if you are in need of after-school child care. Call Vanessa Wiatr-Fraser at the YMCA at 519-824-5150 ext. 256

Mitchell Woods is a great place to learn and grow!

School Song

Mitchell Woods music teacher Mrs. Stronach wrote a school song and with help from Mr. Tucker and Mrs. Growden the song was showcased at an assembly.  https://youtu.be/JgH2DCxSM5s
