PMPS Weekly Update September 16th

Posted September 16, 2022

Good afternoon Mustang Families!

We have had another successful week here at Princess Margaret. Children and staff are fully in the swing of being back at school. We can’t wait to welcome families back on our Meet the Teacher night on September 22nd from 530-7pm. Mark your calendars!

This week, sports teams started back up here at PMPS. Cross country running and soccer has started! We also completed one fire drill and a lockdown drill. Students and staff did a wonderful job following directions and exiting the building safely. We have two more fire drills to complete in the coming week.

Please note, we will have no changes to our school’s organization this year. That means there will be no classroom moves.

Emergency Lunch and Recess Supervisors Needed:

If you love working with wonderful children, who are enthusiastic, fun and engaging, Princess Margaret wants you as a Lunchroom/Yard Supervisor. We have an urgent need for supplies while our regular staff are away. We are currently hiring for this position for the 2022/2023 school year. We require individuals who are caring, energetic, and have the ability to ensure the safety and security of our students.  The position requires a commitment of approximately 80 minutes per day (two 40 minute nutrition breaks:  20 minutes eating and 20 minutes outdoor recess time). This is a paid position, minimum wage per hour.  Your responsibilities include: monitoring lunchrooms and outside recess. Our two nutrition breaks/ yard times are from 10:20- 11am and again from 12:30-1:10pm. Lunchroom supervisors are required to have a criminal record background check. If you want to be part of a great school community with wonderful students, please call Principal, Andrea Papavasiliou at 519-941-3731 ext 223. Supervision:

Please remember that students should not be arriving before 810am in the morning and need to be picked up/ or leave the school at the dismissal bell at 250pm.

Attendance/ Lates/ All Visitors:

If your child is not going to be at school, please call our school office and report the absence on our attendance line. Please also do this if your child is going to be late. If a student is late, they must check in with the office and get a late slip. This allows the teacher to know that the student has checked in with the office, so attendance can be accurate. Please note, we do not have morning greeters this year to assist with this process.

Our school day is from 830am to 250pm every day and it is important that students arrive on time, as there are important routines and announcements that they will miss if they are late. Thank you for your help.

If you are coming into the school, please check in with the office. All visitors must check in with the office.

COVID Reminders:

This year wearing a face mask is a personal choice and we respect the choices of all of our staff and students. Cloth masks will be available at the school for families who choose to use them. Our focus will remain on good respiratory hygiene, hand sanitization, and the use of our HEPA filters and windows for good ventilation.

The Ministry of Health and the Office of the Chief Medical Officer of Health have provided a new “School and Child Care” screening tool.  It is recommended that students/children and visitors continue to self-screen for illness every day before attending school or child care using this updated August 31st Version 5.0 Screening Tool:  School and Child Care Screening Tool.  Students/children and visitors who do not pass the screening should follow the advice provided upon completion of the screening tool. Isolation requirements for most individuals  include:

-Isolating until symptoms have been improving for 24 hours (or 48 hours if gastrointestinal symptoms) and no fever present.

-Asymptomatic individuals with a positive test result do not need to self-isolate unless symptoms develop. If symptoms develop, they should self-isolate immediately.

Have a wonderful weekend.
