PMPS Weekly Update September 28th, 2023

Posted September 28, 2023

Good evening Mustang Families,

What a great week here at PMPS! Our school was represented proudly at the Dufferin County Junior and Intermediate Soccer Meets this week. Both teams played with great team spirit and had fun. Next week, our runners will represent us at our County Cross Running Meet. The team has shown great dedication as they have trained every day the last couple of weeks. Next week, we will gather  as a school to celebrate our top fundraisers for our Terry Fox Run. Top fundraisers will spray their chosen teacher and me with silly string. We are very proud of our school for raising over $1,000 in memory of Terry and cancer research.

Please note that we will lower our flag  from sunrise until sunset on September 30th,  in observance of the National Day of Truth and Reconciliation day. Students are asked to wear orange to school on Friday if they are able. Students and staff have been participating in activities to mark this day and learn more about truth and reconciliation.

You can follow our school Twitter feed: @margaret_ps . We update our website regularly as well: www.ugdsb.ca/PrincessMargaret/ . Staying connected during the school year is key.

Important Dates:

-Friday, September 29th: We are recognizing National Truth & Reconciliation Day a day early since the day is on the weekend this year.  Please wear orange if you are able.

-Tuesday, October 3, 2023– School Picture Day (cross country runners, will have their pictures taken before leaving for the race). Class photos will not be taken until our retake day.  Please see the email sent this week or our school website for more information.

-Thursday, October 5th, 2023- World Teacher Appreciation Day! We are thankful for our teaching staff and appreciate all that they do.

-Thursday, October 5th, 2023: School Council meeting, in person at PMPS Library. New members are always welcome.  Please check out our minutes from September’s meeting:

-Monday, October 9th, 2023: Thanksgiving for those who celebrate. No School.

Front Parking Lot: Thank you for helping us keep the front parking lot clear for our buses to unload children safely. Closing the front parking lot has seemed to help. We will continue with this practice. Orangeville Bylaw has been out since receiving some complaints from our community.

Signing Your Child Out: If you are picking up your child early, please note that you need to come into the office and sign your child out on our log sheet.  Thanks.

Student Medication: A reminder that students cannot carry medication with them for safety reasons. If your child requires medication while at school, please contact the front office. We will send home a consent for you to fill out and we will safely store the medication for your child. Thanks in advance. This excludes puffers for asthma- as children with puffers are permitted to carry their puffers. Please note, there still needs to be a plan on file with the office.

Reminders:

Milk & Pizza Sales:

Milk is currently on sale 1st lunch break. Each milk (plain or chocolate) is $1.00 and students require cash to purchase.Pizza days start tomorrow for those who have purchased. We have over 40 pizzas coming tomorrow!

Delivered Lunches to the School:

Please note that Skip The Dishes/ UberEats etc deliveries are discouraged. Often drivers drop food, not indicating who the delivery is for. We often have student office helpers at lunch time, as our hardworking Mrs. Mckenzie needs a break. As you can imagine, having multiple meals delivered without indicating who they are for and without a label can confuse everyone. If you are dropping off a lunch or having it delivered, please make sure your child knows it is coming, what it is, what time (1040am or 1250pm) it is being delivered, and to come and get it after coming in from recess. We do our best, but mistakes can happen. Rest assured, we will never let a child go hungry, as we have our food program here. Thanks for your support and understanding.

Have a fantastic weekend Mustang Families! It promises to be a beautiful fall weekend. We’ll see everyone for another great day of learning tomorrow.
