Welcome to the 2022/2023 School Year
Welcome back Stallions and welcome to the new families that will be joining our school community this year. Staff have been in the school this week setting up classrooms and getting things ready for our first day on Tuesday, September 6th.
This email has some important information so that your child is ready for the first day of school. A reminder that our school day begins at 8:30am. Supervision on the yard begins at 8:15am. We dismiss the students at 2:50pm. We have two nutrition breaks: 10:30am-11:10am and 12:50pm-1:30pm.
A reminder that our parking lot is closed to traffic in the morning before school and at the end of the day for the safety of our students who walk. If you park on one of our neighbourhood streets when you are coming to our school, we remind you to be a good neighbour by being mindful of the students who are walking to and from school and not to block people’s driveways.
How do I know which class my child is in?
If your child attended Spencer last school year they need to go to their class line-up from last year. They will be met by their teacher from last year (or another staff member if their teacher from last year moved). They will go to their former classroom where the teacher will let them know which class they are moving to.
For our students moving to Grade One, they are to meet on the painted race track just outside of the kindergarten yard. Staff will bring them to the gym and help move them to their grade one classes in the school.
SKs are to go to the kindergarten yard where our kindergarten team will meet them.
For our NEW JK students, you are also going to the kindergarten yard where you will meet your child’s teacher. You would have received communication from the kindergarten team in the summer so you know who your child’s educator(s) are.
For our NEW grade 4 French Immersion students, you will meet Mme Scanlan at the back of the school and she will bring you to your classroom (which you visited during your orientation.)
For our NEW Gifted Students in grades 4, 5 and 6, you will meet Ms. Mangos at the back of the school and she will bring you to your classroom (which you visited during your orientation.)
For NEW STUDENTS TO SPENCER. Please come to the office after 8:15am and one of our staff members will walk you to your new classroom. For students in grades 2-8 that are new to our school we have assigned you a school ambassador who will be in your class. During the day you will have time to chat with them and they will show around the school.
Thank you to our Stallions who have agreed to be school ambassadors. We hope this helps our new students have a great first day of school.

We strongly encourage the parents of our bussed students to set up notifications on the transportation’s Parent Portal. With current bus driver shortages there may be delays at pick-up and drop-off times. This is the best way to stay informed. Link to Transportation Information: https://stwdsts.ca/
