Principal’s Message – September 29, 2023

Posted September 29, 2023

What an amazing turnout last night at our Meet the Teacher event.  It was great to see so many families and to see our students proudly showing off their classroom and desks.  Thanks to all the parents who stopped by the Book Fair.  We will be able to buy some neat things to support the library/makerspace.

This week our junior and intermediate soccer teams competed in the County tournament.  We lucked out with fantastic weather.  The “Big Blue Machine” showed fantastic sportsmanship and had fun.  Thanks so much to our coaches Mr. Sy, Ms. Brown, Mrs. Lowrie and Mrs. Rogers.  Thanks to all the parents who traveled to Shelburne to cheer on our players.

Thank you to all of you who came out to the first School Council meeting of the year.  We had our elections and congratulations to the following:

  • Chair – Jennifer Horne
  • Vice Chair – Becky Miller
  • Treasurer – Cari Mistry (Stephanie Kilday shadowing)
  • Secretary – Kelli Strutt (Sharan Kelly shadowing)

There was a lot of discussion about food days.  Make sure you have your notifications for School Cash Online active to be informed when items like pizza and hot lunches are available for purchase.  Visit the site to register.  Thanks to School Council for organizing these.  Things will be online soon.

Next Tuesday we are sending about 60 runners to the cross country meet at the Agricultural Centre.  It is one of the highlights of the sports calendar as we have runners from grades 1 to 8 participating.  We also are having our first meeting of the Spencer Spirit Squad for students in grades 6-8.  These student leaders help organize the colour houses, colour days, spirit days, and play days for the school.  If your child is interested, our first meeting is on Wednesday at first break.

We hope everyone has a fantastic weekend.  It is supposed to be sensational.
