Staffing changes 

– Cassie- new VP- formerly from Mitchell Woods

– 0.2 position (1 day)- on leave- Mrs. Jalil taking over as LTO- primary art/music/drama

– 0.2 job posting for intermediate position- no applicants yet- posting to close tomorrow

Anti Bullying Week- big success

• Daily themes- lots of ongoing work in classes

• Grade 6 class- with Mrs. Roth and CYC: Upstanders
• Training on problems that can solve and problems that they are not to solve (adult problems)
• Help working in kindergarten classes around sharing

PGNG Campaign- grade 7 & 8

• Community based leadership opportunities
• Increasing needs in community
• Already 4 tables full of toys/toiletries
• Students did announcements, went around to classes to collect

• Noticing that it took longer for students to get settled into the school routine this year- but now seeing more independence

• Board and school equity audit
• School improvement plan- take some steps to see how we are reaching community needs/ any barriers
• Teachers asked to make an equity commitment
• Identify racism/inequity structures in the school/community- how do you disrupt them?
• Teachers and students to compile some data
• How to collect parental/community data?

RATs and Rapid Tests 

– 1 kit for each student in the school

–  package of 5 for each student coming home Monday

– Guidelines to take 1 test every 3 days while on break (asymptomatic) if positive test- then go for PCR

– Also parents can request different tests from the school if child is symptomatic and/or a class is closed

Fundraising Updates and balances

• $2500 in funds
• We should try to do a fundraiser in the new year
• Discussion about what fundraisers to try
• Chocolate has been profitable
• Some of them have very little return to the school
• Flower/gardening for the spring (Bessie’s bulbs)- Ruth to investigate
• Dance-a-thon in the spring (end of April/ or May?)
• Lady Glaze- 20% return to the school
• School council volunteers are now allowed into the school to help with things (proof of full vaccination status)
• Ken to take a look at some dates that will work and council to make a decision about which chocolates to choose in January
• Laura Secord or Purdy’s- look into returns to the school

• Went through Staff wish list
• Perhaps wishlist spending on hold right now until we secure more funds

• Revisions: requirement for volunteers to have a vulnerable sector check for higher risk activities/close contact/position of trust (room for Principal discretion) 
• Vulnerable sector check within the last 6 months (or some period of time. After first check- yearly declaration)
• Potential barrier/one step harder for people to volunteer
• Low risk- read a policy, sign a document, trained, under supervision/guidance of teachers, keep confidentiality
• Vaccinated for Covid-19
• Council’s role- take a look at the risk chart- what do we deem as low, medium, high

• Playground reserve- $3500 in fund- to stay in parent council account
• When teacher applies for $100 for expenses- take this from the parent council general fund- Melynda to do formal tracking of this
