Principal’s Message for November

Posted November 2, 2019

November is here and the weather has certainly turned colder!  With the drop in temperature, please ensure your children are coming to school with warm clothes for outside.  Students are outside twice daily for recess and some classes engage in outdoor learning too.

As of November 1, our playground is closed for the season.  It will reopen April 1.

We have a busy month ahead with our community partners.   Our school assigned Police Officer will be working with our Grade 6 students this month.  Public Health will also be in on November 6th for Grade 7 immunizations and to do Fluoride varnishes on the 12th.

If you missed picture day, retake day is on the 15th.  In addition, if you are unhappy with your photos, please return them on the 15th and have a new picture taken.

There will be a Remembrance Day Ceremony on the 11th in the gym organized by our students and staff.  Parents are welcome to attend.

Progress Reports will be going home on Tuesday the 19th with all students.  Parent/teacher interviews will be held on the evening of Thursday the 28th (for some classes) and all day Friday.  Information about booking interviews on-line will be sent home with the progress report.  The expectation is that all parents will meet with their child’s teacher to discuss their progress and next steps.  We value your time and input as you know your children best.  If  you need an interpreter for your interview, please call the office.  We book interpreters through Immigration Services and the more time we can give them to arrange this, the better.  Thank you.

Celebrating diversity is important at our school.  We are using our front foyer display case to recognize and showcase various cultural celebrations.  Please contact me at the school if you would like to participate.  All items will be locked behind the glass.  Thank you for considering.

Wishing you a wonderful month ahead.  As always, if you have questions, comments or concerns, please contact me at the school.

Sincerely,

Tara Topping
