Home Use of Technology Protocol- Chromebooks

Please see below for our Technology Protocol for families that have borrowed a school Chromebook.

STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIES: USE AND CARE OF EQUIPMENT

1. Only Board-approved software is to be loaded onto the computer by Board personnel. This ensures the proper configuration of the system.

2. The Board’s Acceptable Use of Digital Technology (Policy # 318) will apply at all times and locations.

3. Repairs may only be done by an Upper Grand District School Board repair technician.

4. Equipment will be used with the provided electrical supply cords only.

5. Equipment will be plugged directly into a wall receptacle or a CSA approved power bar.

6. Technology support including repairs and technical advice is not available in the home setting or in other locations outside of the school building.

7. Equipment is to be handled with care to avoid damage. I understand and agree to follow the above conditions regarding the use of Upper Grand District School Board technology at home.

8. This equipment will be returned to the UGDSB immediately upon request, and no later than June 26, 2020.

While certain web browsing safety technology has been installed on this Chromebook, I acknowledge that no software can provide 100% protection from inappropriate websites. I also acknowledge that it is my responsibility to use the equipment for education-related services as directed by staff in the Upper Grand DSB.
