Requests for technology for Online Learning: January 2021

Posted December 28, 2020

On Monday Dec. 21, the provincial government announced that schools in Ontario will move temporarily to remote learning following the winter break. Following the announcement, the Ministry of Education confirmed to school boards that all elementary and secondary students will temporarily shift to remote learning starting on January 4th, 2021. UGDSB elementary schools will resume in-person learning on January 11th. Your child’s teacher will be using their Google Classroom to teach students during the week of January 4th-8th. Your child’s teacher should be in contact with you on Monday, January 4th to ensure that you and your children are able to access online content.

We understand that some families will require a device to support student learning from January 4-8.  If you currently do not have a device from the UGDSB and require a device, please complete the Google form below. When completing the form, please include the names of all students who require devices but please note that we will be prioritizing one device per family to start in January.  Additional devices will be made available after we have ensured that every family that needs one has one.

Request School Chromebook for At Home Use

If your child(ren) requires technology for at home learning AND you have completed the survey, please note that devices will be available for pickup up at the school anytime after 12:00 PM on Wednesday, December 30 or between the hours of 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM on Monday, January 4.

Please watch the school and Board websites for more information, as well as your email.

If you have decided that your child(ren) will not be participating in online learning during this week, please let the classroom teacher know on Monday, January 4th.
