December School Council Minutes
December 9, 2021
Present: Tara Topping, Rylan Pranger, Jen S, Joanne D, Jennifer P-A, Laura C-M, Lisa J, Alysha J
- Equity Adit started by sending out an electronic questionnaire to parent community. In addition, each division of students is completing individual data based on 5 questions surrounding how welcoming, inclusive, and accepting of diversity Westwood school is. This data will be used to create next steps in the new year.
- Kindergarten Registration begins January 4-21, 2022. It is online. Please go to the Westwood website. Registration forms are available in multiple languages. Children registering for Junior kindergarten must be turning 4 in 2022. Please call Mrs. Marrow in the front office if you have questions.
- We had many problems with parents accessing online reports. There were over 75 inactive accounts and over 50 parents (the majority whose first language is not English) contacted the school for paper copies. Feedback will be given to the board office ahead of the February reports.
- Bi-weekly communication bursts will continue to be sent through Messenger email from the office. The emails will also be posted on the Westwood website.
- We are looking ahead to food days (pizza, booster juice, subs, etc) in the new year. More details to follow in January.
- We are always looking for clothing donations. If you children have outgrown indoor/outdoor clothing, including boots and shoes we would love to add them to our collections for student use.
- Outdoor learning will begin in January with Paul Gifford in Mrs. Irvine, Mrs. Elford and Mrs. Awad’s classes. Three more classes will participate later this winter.
