Remote Learning Technology Distribution

Posted December 28, 2020

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We hope that you and your families are well and were able to enjoy some family time over the break so far.

As communicated last week, the provincial government has directed schools in Ontario to move temporarily to remote learning following the winter break. All UGDSB elementary and secondary students will begin the new year working remotely, with the exception of DD classes.

We understand that some families may need to borrow technology from the school for remote learning. If you do not have technology at home to engage in remote learning, please complete the following Chromebook Request Form by 4pm on December 31st, ONLY if you do not currently have a UGDSB device at home. We will be prioritizing one device per family to start in January.

Devices will be available for pick-up on Monday, January 4th between 12pm-4pm. When picking up your device, please call the school when you arrive or ring the doorbell. You may need to wait, so please be patient. Please watch the school and Board websites for more information, as well as your email.

Please return all Chromebooks to your classroom teacher at the end of the remote learning period.

Information from the UGDSB Website:
– During the week of Dec. 28, schools will determine the technology needs of their students. Schools will communicate with families directly about device pick-up.
– Schools will continue to support students who are unable to access technology or reliable internet. Please contact Mrs. Robertson at x 224. She will respond on Jan 4th.
– Teachers will post their regular weekly schedule in their Google Classroom.
– On Jan. 4, elementary students will have access to asynchronous work posted in their Google Classroom, teachers will check in with all of their students to make sure they are prepared for the week ahead.
– From Jan. 5-8, teachers will provide daily instruction with a combination of synchronous and asynchronous learning activities.

Thank you in advance for your patience. We hope you are able to take some time this week to enjoy the holiday season. We look forward to being in touch with you shortly.

Mr. Singh & Ms. Robertson
