Student Author Alert! We’re thrilled to announce that our very own student, Brynn Law, has co-written a book with her Grandma! On Tuesday, January 28th, Brynn and her Grandma will present to our Grade 4-6 students in the gym. They’ll also bring 50 copies of their book, available for purchase at $10 each. Plus, they’re generously donating two copies to the Learning Commons so everyone will have a chance to enjoy their story. We can’t wait to celebrate this wonderful accomplishment with Brynn and her Grandma!
Outdoor Ed Funding We hope the intermediate students had a great time on the slopes yesterday! In an effort to keep costs down, the ski trip was supplemented by outdoor end funding.

All UGDSB families are advised to be prepared for cold weather tomorrow morning. Please dress accordingly and take precautions with the cold temperatures. Parents/guardians are invited to attend a free webinar on EQAO math assessments. EQAO staff will discuss math questions that Ontario students encounter when they participate in Ontario’s large-scale assessments. Holiday Activities - We have lots of exciting activities planned next week. Here is a summary:

December 20th - Sparkle and Shine Festive Colours, Intermediate Dance, Last day of School before Christmas Break.
Inclement Weather -
Bus Cancellation: If your child is a bus student but you decide to drive your child to school, please ensure you have end of day arrangements made BEFORE you come to school.
If your child is NOT a bus student but you decide to keep them home, you must call the school to report the absence.
School Closure: If schools are closed, all students will shift to remote learning where possible.
Dogs on the School Yard - This is a reminder that dogs should not be on school property at the beginning or end of day to ensure the safety of students and community members
As the break begins, we hope you have the chance to enjoy some special time with your family! This is a wonderful time to play in the snow (fingers crossed), laugh, and spend time with the people you love most. Have a fantastic break!

Candle Fundraiser - Thank you so much to everyone who participated in our Violet and Ash Candle Fundraiser. We expect the candles to arrive early next week. We will package them up and send them home as soon as possible.
Spirit Wear - Spirit Wear ordering is open and ongoing. Simply go to the website, pick your spirit wear, checkout and it will be delivered to the school a few weeks later. Looking to purchase spirit wear as a Christmas gift? Order before December 8th to guarantee delivery before Christmas. Let your child’s teacher know if you would like their order to be kept secret ;)
Holiday Gift Shop - The Holiday Gift Shop continues to collect items until Friday, December 13th. The gift shop will be open for purchases in the learning commons on December 17th and 18th for $2.00 an item. This is an opportunity for your child to SURPRISE a friend or family member with a personally selected gift. We will also gladly accept newspaper, gift wrap, gift bags and tape to help our Holiday Helpers with their gift wrapping.
Earth Rangers Assembly - On Tuesday, December 10th there will be an assembly for K-6 students run by the "Earth Rangers." The Earth Rangers School Assembly is an inspiring, interactive presentation featuring live animals, games and trivia, captivating video content, and two enthusiastic educators who not only teach kids about the environmental issues our planet is facing, but empower them to take action

JD Three - Week of December 2 - 6
Food Drive - The JDH food drive is underway. We are motivated to reach our goal of 5000 items! If you know of any local businesses that would like to make a larger donation, we will recognize them on the Wall of Fame. School cash online is open for monetary donations as well.
Fluoride Varnish - Fluoride Varnish will be offered to all students December 12th. You will need to register your child(ren) if you would like them to receive fluoride treatment.
UGDSB UG Connect App - We have a refreshed UGDSB mobile app. The app allows users to follow the news feed and events calendars of the UGDSB and whatever schools users select to follow. Users can also sign up to receive push notifications from the UGDSB and selected schools. Download the new app today!
