Digital Support for Accessing Report Cards - The Upper Grand District School Board offers an online parent portal called Parent ConnectED. Through this portal, parents and guardians can access their children’s report cards digitally.

Principal Announcement - As many are aware, Tracy Baker will be retiring at the end of the year. We wish her all the best in this next chapter and we’re pleased to announce that Darren Hale, the current principal at Palmerston Public School, will be joining us as the new principal of JD Hogarth in September. Darren brings a wealth of experience and a strong commitment to student success, and we’re excited to welcome him to our school community. We’re also happy to share that our current Vice Principal, Nathan Adams, will be continuing in his role.
First Rider Program - The First Rider Program returns on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, offering students and their families a chance to learn about school bus safety—and even enjoy a short ride! Intermediate Track and Field - Due to the rain this week, Intermediate Track and Field has been moved to Tuesday, May 27th. Grade 7s will do Track and Field in the morning and then leave for Swim to Survive in the afternoon.
Vaccine Clinic - Public Health is returning to provide the second doses of Grade 7 vaccines on Monday, May 26th.

Yearbooks for Sale - Yearbooks are still available on School Cash Online for $15. The ordering window will close on Wednesday, May 21. Late orders will not be accepted.

Support Staff Appreciation Day - On Friday, May 16th, we recognize and celebrate the incredible support staff who make a difference every day. At JD, we are fortunate to have an exceptional team of Educational Assistants and a dedicated Child and Youth Counsellor. Your compassion, commitment, and the positive impact you have on our students are truly invaluable. Thank you — we appreciate everything you do!
Open House - Join us on Thursday, May 8th from 5:30 - 7:00 for our annual open house. School Cash Online is still open for those that would like to order pizza (or slices). Come and see the Arts Day Display, browse the Book Fair and participate in a few activities throughout the school. Frozen treats will be for sale for $1 each.
Fluoride Varnish - Public Health will be back in our school on May 5th for free Fluoride Varnish treatments.

Mental Health and Education Week - The week of May 5th - 9th is Mental Health and Education week. This year’s theme, “Thriving Together, Building Healthy Futures,” highlights the importance of well-being in learning and school communities. Throughout the week, we’ll focus on mindfulness, kindness, movement, connection, and celebration.
Save the Date - Mark your calendars! JD Hogarth is hosting an open house on May 8th from 5:30 - 7:00. Activities will be happening all around the school. Pizza will be for sale on school cash online starting today for those that would like to participate. Families have the option to purchase by the slice or by the pizza. Frozen treats will be available for cash purchase the night of for $1. More information about the open house will be sent home next week.
Arts Day - Friday was a fun filled day at JD Hogarth. Students participated in a variety of workshops. Here are a few photos from the day. A special thank you Mme Fisher, Mrs. Martinez, Mrs. Conti and Mrs. Derma, our Arts Day team, who went above and beyond to organize this huge event.

Community Clean Up - On Tuesday, April 22nd we are celebrating Earth Day with a Community Cleanup to help pick up garbage. Bring glovers if you have them!

Easter Weekend - There is no School Friday, April 18th and Monday, April 21st.
Weather Changes - Just a reminder to label clothing and pack an extra pair of socks and pants in case clothing gets wet or dirty at recess. Our field can get quite muddy this time of year.

Label Clothing – With the warmer weather this week, please ensure your child’s clothing is clearly labeled. Gloves, hats, and sweaters are often removed during recess and forgotten outside, causing our lost and found to grow once again!

Live Free Day – Today was Live Free Day. School Cash Online will remain open until the 16th for anyone wishing to donate to the Keeping Kids Fed at School Program. This program provides snacks to students in need, funds our hot lunch and salad days, and offers full lunches to any students who need them. Please consider donating so we can continue to provide healthy food to hungry minds.
Due to inclement weather, UGDSB schools and offices in Zones 2, 3, and 4 (Centre Wellington, North Wellington and Dufferin) are closed today to staff and students. Students are to shift to remote learning, where possible. Staff should not report to work in person, and should shift to remote working where possible. All buses and taxis are cancelled to those affected schools. Schools and offices in Zone 1 (Guelph) remain open today.
Dance-a-thon – On March 7th, the School Council is hosting a Dance-a-thon! Pledge forms and money are due by March 7th, and School Cash Online will remain open until March 16th. Funds raised from this event will go towards Arts Day!

Change in Weekly Emails – Please be aware that, starting today, the board has switched to Apptegy Thrillshare Alerts for communication. You will continue to receive updates via email, but we will now also send important reminders via text message. These messages will come from the number 277849.

Beauty and the Beast Jr. - The magic begins next week! Our students have been working tirelessly for months, and now it's time to bring Beauty and the Beast Jr. to life on stage! Come support their hard work and enjoy a tale as old as time!

Live Free Campaign - The Keeping Kids Fed at School Program brings healthy food to hungry minds. JDH offers a daily snack program and lunch programs throughout the month. Starting February 24th to March 16th, school cash online will be open to make donations to the Live Free Campaign, alternatively, students can bring cash in a sealed envelope to your child's teacher by March 7th. This money comes directly back to JDH to continue to support our extensive food program here at JD
