Pizza Orders - The deadline to order pizza is Wednesday, September 17th. If you want your child(ren) to have pizza this term, you must order before the deadline. If you miss ordering, you will have to wait until January’s order.
Grad Hoodies - School cash online opened today to purchase grad hoodies. Orders are due September 30th. No late orders will be accepted so don’t delay!
Hot Lunch Days - They’re back! If you’re new to the school, we are very fortunate to have Mr. Gordon and his Grade ⅞ class prepare lunch free of charge to our school. Students will follow the schedule posted on our website and have the option to have a fresh salad OR hot lunch on your classes scheduled day. Please send a container AND utensil on your child’s lunch day. We do not hand out utensils for students who forget! If you would like to give back to our snack program so we are able to continue to provide this option to our students, you can donate through school cash online. Any contribution big or small is greatly appreciated.

Principal Announcement - As many are aware, Tracy Baker will be retiring at the end of the year. We wish her all the best in this next chapter and we’re pleased to announce that Darren Hale, the current principal at Palmerston Public School, will be joining us as the new principal of JD Hogarth in September. Darren brings a wealth of experience and a strong commitment to student success, and we’re excited to welcome him to our school community. We’re also happy to share that our current Vice Principal, Nathan Adams, will be continuing in his role.
First Rider Program - The First Rider Program returns on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, offering students and their families a chance to learn about school bus safety—and even enjoy a short ride! Support Staff Appreciation Day - On Friday, May 16th, we recognize and celebrate the incredible support staff who make a difference every day. At JD, we are fortunate to have an exceptional team of Educational Assistants and a dedicated Child and Youth Counsellor. Your compassion, commitment, and the positive impact you have on our students are truly invaluable. Thank you — we appreciate everything you do!

Open House - Join us on Thursday, May 8th from 5:30 - 7:00 for our annual open house. School Cash Online is still open for those that would like to order pizza (or slices). Come and see the Arts Day Display, browse the Book Fair and participate in a few activities throughout the school. Frozen treats will be for sale for $1 each.
Fluoride Varnish - Public Health will be back in our school on May 5th for free Fluoride Varnish treatments.

Mental Health and Education Week - The week of May 5th - 9th is Mental Health and Education week. This year’s theme, “Thriving Together, Building Healthy Futures,” highlights the importance of well-being in learning and school communities. Throughout the week, we’ll focus on mindfulness, kindness, movement, connection, and celebration.

Save the Date - Mark your calendars! JD Hogarth is hosting an open house on May 8th from 5:30 - 7:00. Activities will be happening all around the school. Pizza will be for sale on school cash online starting today for those that would like to participate. Families have the option to purchase by the slice or by the pizza. Frozen treats will be available for cash purchase the night of for $1. More information about the open house will be sent home next week.
Arts Day - Friday was a fun filled day at JD Hogarth. Students participated in a variety of workshops. Here are a few photos from the day. A special thank you Mme Fisher, Mrs. Martinez, Mrs. Conti and Mrs. Derma, our Arts Day team, who went above and beyond to organize this huge event.

Easter Weekend - There is no School Friday, April 18th and Monday, April 21st.
Weather Changes - Just a reminder to label clothing and pack an extra pair of socks and pants in case clothing gets wet or dirty at recess. Our field can get quite muddy this time of year.
