On behalf of the students and staff of The Guelph Collegiate Vocational Institute, we would like to extend a warm welcome to you and your family for the 2026-2027 school year. We are looking forward to meeting the grade 8 students from Willow Road Public School, Mitchell Woods Public School, Taylor Evans Public School, Gateway Drive Public School and Westwood Public School, as well as students from other schools who live in G.C.V.I.’s catchment area.
The first step in preparing for September, 2026 is the course selection process. Each grade 8 student will be asked to complete course selection in myblueprint.ca for grade 9 by Friday January 30th, 2026. Our GCVI guidance team will be visiting our feeder schools to help with course selection and answer questions between now and January 30th.

We would like to thank students, staff and families for this understanding over the past few days.
In spite of a lot of cleaning efforts over the weekend Mitchell Woods PS will continue to be closed on Monday, October 20 to allow for final testing, cleaning and preparing classrooms for students to return. We anticipate that students and staff will be able to return on Tuesday,October 21.
Students are to continue remote learning where possible. Staff will have asynchronous material for students to work through in the afternoon to allow them time to set up classrooms for students. All buses and taxis will be cancelled to the school until it reopens.
We will send communications out tomorrow with an update on progress and plans for Tuesday.
The teams have been working hard and the school is looking good - we're almost there.
Thanks again for your incredible community support.
We remain hopeful for a return to school on Monday, October 20, however, we are asking families and staff to have a backup plan in case an additional day is required for cleaning and testing. We will provide an update on Sunday around 5:00 p.m. to confirm the plans for Monday morning.
In the event we require an extra day, students and staff would continue in remote learning where possible. All buses and taxis will remain cancelled to the school until it reopens.
Students are to continue remote learning where possible. Staff should not report to work in person, and should continue working remotely where possible. All buses and taxis will be cancelled to the school until it reopens.
We will continue to provide updates online as more information becomes available and we’ll confirm if we are able to return to in person learning on Monday, October 20th as soon as we are able to do so.

We are currently seeking public input on Policy 518 - Students with Life-Threatening Medical Conditions.
This policy conveys the board’s commitment to supporting students with prevalent medical conditions, such as asthma, anaphylaxis, diabetes and epilepsy, to ensure they have full access to school in a safe, inclusive, and healthy environment. This includes fostering well-being and empowering students to manage their medical needs to the best of their ability.
