At the October 24th Board meeting, the following policy items were approved. All updates have been made on the board website (www.ugdsb.on.ca/board/policy).
Primrose ES Boundary Review
The board’s Planning Department is responsible for monitoring enrollment and accommodation needs for its schools on a regular basis. As part of this process, staff identified increased enrolment pressures at Primrose ES resulting in initiating a Boundary Review Process. At the October 17, 2023 Finance & Facilities Committee Meeting, Trustees approved the staff recommendation to initiate the Primrose ES Boundary Review. It should be noted that the final approval of the commencement of the Boundary Review will occur at the Board Meeting on November 14, 2023. The Initial Report required an approval from Trustees prior to starting the public process and notifying the school communities in accordance with the Board’s Boundary Review policies and procedures.
Statement from the Chair of the Board and Director regarding ongoing violence in the Middle East
We are deeply saddened to learn of the recent deadly attacks and ongoing violence in the Middle East. Our thoughts are with all those impacted and mourning the loss of life during the conflict over the past weekend. We acknowledge this is a particularly devastating time for UGDSB students, staff and families who are connected to the region. These students and communities need our support, understanding, compassion, and care. These events may cause a variety of reactions, emotions and responses among staff, students, and families. To support staff in responding to questions and/or engaging in dialogue with students, we are providing resources for schools to ensure safe, inclusive learning and working environments.
