  • Great moments in teaching – some teachers volunteered to help out with holiday concert on Thurs Dec 21 9 am. Some classes will participate. Carol sing on Fri. Dec. 22

Extra-Curriculars

  • Junior volleyball tournament hosted here
  • Intermediate volleyball tournaments this week
  • Choirs busy prepping for various upcoming performances

  • board offers “pathways” through school (related to de-streaming).  HS grade 9 had 4 different options when applying.  i.e. IEP students would enter HS at the same level.  Education for all students. 
  • Ken encouraged us to read it through and spread the word.
  • My Blueprint online platform students can use for career planning (typically grade 6,7,8 – choosing courses for HS).
  • Building a new South-End school; review boundaries for moving students into Centennial and new school.
  • Specialist programs for students looking to get into trades.
  • Monthly visits from HS for grade 8 students; options available, etc. Teachers making reccos for the options in Grade 9.
  • Tricia commented that grade 8 students struggle coming into grade 9 – is there a prep program in grade 7 or 8 curriculum? 
  • Exceeded provincial & board average for EQAO results.
  • Teachers help with organization skills etc – “our job to help you be ready for HS”.

Fundraising Chocolate bars – end of January 2024 to start of February 2024

  • Decided that prizes will be done
  • Grotto – $100 GC, other donations from the school; we can also approach smaller stores for a donation too. Ken has a donation letter too. Ken to send to Jackie
  • Amy, Amber, Rich to look at prizes – at least 3 would be great
  • What does Worlds’ Finest offer? Minimum boxes ordered
  • Top seller per class, top seller whole school etc. – breaking out prizes into sections.
  • Over half of the money collected was cash last year. Decided both cash & cash online will be available as payment
  • Type of chocolate bars? 3 for $5 – $100 per box. 
  • Decided on the opt-in method for this year (easier, and parents/kids are volunteering to sell this time)

  • Shelf for this year & perhaps combine with other schools for future years
  • Program hasn’t been done at TEPS since 2018
  • Math night for Parents & internet safety night & addictions to gaming. Apply, find a speaker, provide rationale, etc.  Arts night.  Gov grant supports your community initiative.  Lots of work. Bad turnout.

  • Opening balance approx. $6,000
  • $3,600 allotted to teachers ($100)
  • $850 to fridge
  • Estimate $5,000 profit from chocolate bars.
  • $1,700 to spend on wishlist tonight

Teacher’s Wishlist
  • Richard to draft an email that Meaghan can send out to teachers with items that were approved
  • Approved most of the items on the wishlist. Decisions were made that for in-school “experiences” we will provide half; parents will pay rest
  • A few big ticket items are shelved – this will be our theme for chocolate bar sales

  • Get Moving Monday grade 1-6
  • Badminton – open gym (adults)
  • Craft club 2/month – low turnout – can she bring flyers to school and can we send them out for her?
  • Looking for feedback if there is a need for other activities – Jackie would appreciate
    Neighbourhood group – food pantry, clothing room, run programs in community, trying to open summer & march break camps to help out families.
  • Parents’ night out in the works – kids would join program, parents could go out.
  • Supports TEPS families that need help with food. 
  • Best way to sign up for the programs – online.
  • Amy to provide link to council members; we’ll also post to new FB group.

  • Snack program every day at 2nd break
  • Mrs. Irvine on medical leave – revert back to “grab and go”
  • Large donation received today from MadeGood
  • Milk donation program, apples/fruit
  • May need volunteers from the community to help in the New Year
  • Received a $7,000 grant to help program keep running
  • Noticed an increased need in our population 
  • Amber – get new milk order out for January.
  • Shouib working on fridge discount – can’t find model for John. Reached out Danby as well; 3rd option Oxbury warehouse in London 36” wide $1,400 fridge on sale for $799 +$30 delivery.  $850 total. Details have been sent to John for decision.
