DELF

- The DELF scolaire is a diploma issued by the French Ministry of National Education in recognition of French-language studies. These diplomas are recognized around the world.
- The CIEP (Centre international d’études pédagogiques) is the public organization appointed by France’s Ministry of National Education to oversee the pedagogical and administrative aspects of the examination.
- The DELF scolaire examinations assess students at four levels (A1, A2, B1, B2), which correspond to the levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
- Your child’s French teacher will help to choose the diploma that best suits the student’s skill level.
- Prerequisite: Students are eligible to write the DELF exam if they are currently enrolled in or have completed FIF4U/FSF4U

AP (Advanced Placement) French

- Students have the opportunity to do an independent study with the support and guidance of a mentor at JFR.
- Students meet with their mentor weekly to ask questions, review work, and receive guidance as to what studying and practice work should be done.
- The AP French Language and Culture studies emphasize written and spoken communication in French by applying interpersonal, interpretive, and presentational skills in real-life situations.
- Skills in both understanding and being understood by others are developed through AP French
- AP French help prepare students for college or university courses and workloads
- Students take an exam in the spring
- Students can earn university or college (US) level credit based on level of achievement on the exam
